Just for starters!

Hey guys, my daughters Mercury Tracer won't start.
Battery is charged
It all the way in park
I'm getting 12v to the starter

When I turn the key nothing, lights don't dim or anything. Every once in awhile I her a click from the starter. Pulled the starter and had it tested, tested fine.

I got radio, lights, horn, locks etc.

Any ideas??? is it like an ignition switch??

Thanks in advance for any help!

P.S. It shouldn't make a difference but I just put the tranny in it, went for a 5 mile ride, shut it off and now it won't start.

Did you double check your grounds?

Yes, check the grounds.

3 posts on your starter?

if so, one is always hot (big post), the other is the solenoid power wire (small post), and the other is ground (big post).

If you didn't already do this, have someone turn the key to "start" and hold it htere while you check for 12v down on the small post to click the solenoid.


Actually....since you just put the tranny in....ahve you checked the neutral safety switch?
