Took the Harleys to Deep Creek

Me and a friend of mine, loaded what we could carry on the bikes, put the old ladies on the back and went to deep creek this weekend. Stopped at a dealership in Lavalle on the way down. What a fun trip. I wish I would have bought this bike years ago! Got a little cold going back to the hotel at night, but that's just part of the adventure.

That's cool man. Wifey and I are staying there for a night in October. I'm trying to convince her to go on the bike, but seeing as how it's our anniversary... I just don't think it's going to fly???

Did you go 381 to 40 to 219 or did you take more back roads?

took 381 , then cut across dinner bell rd. to 40. We didn't pick up 219 on the way down because we went to highland h-d in Lavalle. On the way back went 219 and went through Confluence and back roads home. Very good ride.

You gotta watch around the lake there. I heard that stretch of road by the lake and all the restaurants is notorious for dui's. And a couple months ago I got the sobriety test out on the lake on a rented pontoon boat. I guess it didn't help I had a keg next to me and it was so shook up from the boat ride that everytime someone got a beer I got covered in foam. Luckily I was the only one not drinking that day. Other than that it seemed like a pretty cool place.

Deep Creek is a great place for a long weekend getaway. Only a 2 hour drive ( approx ), and some really great scenery. Really calm and peaceful town. Lots of hiking, stuff for the kids to do, beautiful lake and plenty of fresh air. Tons of houses that you can rent - they're not super cheap, but most of them are so nice and well-equipped ( hot tubs, jetted tubs, games, TVs, grilles, docks, etc. ) that it is worth it. We used to go every year with 3 - 6 other couples and share a mansion for a long weekend. Amazing how much booze we put away on those trips...before the kids came into the picture...

We're heading down in mid-October for some well-needed R&R. Can't wait - the leaves should be changing so the hikes will be fun, and we'll have a blast with the dog - he'll be living in the lake the whole time fetching his floating toys.

Do you guys have any recommendations for 'fine dining' down there? Not much luck searching the interwebs.

I love the Pine Creek Lodge. Get a steak there every time I go down and it rocks.
