    suspension question

    just a quick question...when looking at shocks or struts, what do the numbers mean? such as 90/10 or 50/50? any help would be great. thanks.

    Those numbers are the ratio of resistance. A 90 / 10 has 10 percent resistance on the upward stroke and 90 percent on the downward stroke. The 90/10 will keep the front end extended upward longer and that helps plant the weight of the car on the rear tires. The reason there are different ratios and adjustables is each car likes to be set up a little different, some cars leave hard and the 90 / 10 rise too quickly and end up peaking and droping down too fast then the car unloads the weight off the rear tires and you get wheel spin. Others like the quick upward action.
