You do pay more for a turbo kit up front, but most kits come with injectors + mass air meter, and other supporting parts. Sc's usually dont come with these parts, Jmo.

I had all the supporting hardware from a supercharger setup, followed a $1000 buildup from 5.0 mag from years ago. Cut my build to $400 compared to theirs, was a set of twins with twin intercoolers and I ended up buying brand new shorty headers. Car would kick sideways at 60 mph on the highway. With a $1000 budget, you could get a monster turbo, build a mad streetcar. The price of a kit isn't the parts, its the R & D and labor. Took a month to finish the car, but at the time, turbos were a huge mystery. Incon had just hit the market at the time!

Its all in what you can do yourself. That really dictates the cost.

Thinking cheap will ultimately cost you more. Stay away from used parts unless you really find a diamond in the rough, so to speak. For a street car and I am assuming a stock motor, just pick a kit from one of the reputable manufacturers. I have a customer with a brand new hellion 99-04 gt kit still sealed up in the box. He desperately wants to get rid of it so I know it could be had for a steal, call me at the shop if you are interested...good luck either way
