I woke up this morning and drove the cobra out to the car wash so I could wax her up and go to a show out at Kiski HS today. I was on my way home and was goin around a bend and there was a huge dead animal in the middle of the lane, with my car having the exhaust (and pretty much the whole car) about 2" off the ground, I went around the animal. In the process, I hit some loose gravel on the side of the road and that sent the car into a slide, I tried everything I could to correct it, but the front passenger side came around and hit the guard rail, then came to rest with the rear bumper just slightly resting against the guard rail. I was only goin about 30-35mph when this happened. It coulda been worse I guess. As far as I can see the car will need a new passenger front fender, hood, front bumper, headlights, foglights, airbags, and the rear bumper will need paint from where it touched the guard rail when the car came to a stop.
I'm ok, just have some burns on my left arm from the airbag and a seat belt burn on my collar bone. The car goes to an insurance adjuster on Tuesday to see what they're gonna do for me. I have full coverage and only a $100 deductible, but hopefully they won't total the car. I opened the hood and the core support and frame/shock towers are straight, didn't even crack the radiator. They told me that the car was safe to drive home and I did, both front wheels are straight, the steering wheel is straight and the car drives exactly as it did before. Really the airbags deploying is all that worries me as far as any chance of them totaling it.
Here are a couple pics of the damage
