I've got far bigger "aero" issues with my Capri than cleaning up the bottom side ;) Sort of like a cinder block in the wind, but it still has some style :D

none the less, you might be much further ahead with a splitter / air damn to keep the air out of there than smoothing the flow when it gets there. Also you can manage the air through the front much better.

Bob, post a side profile picture of your car, I think I've got something you'll enjoy seeing :)

I'll post up what I'm working on in a bit, its pretty slick if I do say so myself.

Right now I'm working on an 03 cobra to see what it will turn out like, then I'm going to turn to the likes of a viper and the mythical skyline :)

OMG just realized I need to do this for my hummer to get a laugh or two

attaching it isn't working for some reason, so I uploaded it to youtube just now. When it's done processing it can be seen here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GOLcuPrctks

While the one I attached doesn't really illustrate the effect an undertray would have on our cars, I think I'll be able to get something going that will. Give me time, this takes a while. I've already got a few done :)

I don't have anything straight profile if you are planning to do like the Cobra one you linked, will get something this weekend.

Would be interesting to see that with my bi-wing ;) That is if any air gets there after the wall on the front :D

the bi wing is exactly why I wanted a picture :) The further away you take the picture (within reason), the easier it is on me

Bo - let me know if either of these might work. Lousy pictures, thought about it when I was leaving the track tonight. If the wont work, I can get better one day this week.

When we went to Hybrid class for work the instuctor said removing those shields would cause a 2 MPG decrease. Alot of newer cars run that type of shield. Using it would help for sure, but the heat issue on a car not designed for it could be a problem. Some manufacturers are nice enough to put removable covers to change the oil. Most, as already noted, are a PITA to change the oil on.

    BUMP.

This month's MM&FF had an interesting piece of data in it....

The 2010 mustang comes with exactly what I was talking about making for my car in the original post.

They said that it decreases underbody lift by 23%. They go on to say that at higher speeds its enough for the average customer to notice the difference in.

Looks like this idea just got a second life.

What should I make it out of? Would sheet metal be good? I didn't see any pictures of the pieces underneath the new mustang to see what it looks like from the factory

December 2008 issue of Muscle Mustang & Fast Fords had a feature on a car called "The Hunter" and a crew called "Agent 47" made an 06' Mustang GT into a steet legal but track ready race car for any local road course racers or an American Iron Series Raceing.
Real sick all custom fabs to the whole car, they somewhat help aid in prototype work too, but what caught my eye was a full-on bellypan w/ diffuser which runs from the front to the rear of the car. Eliminating Drag from under the car, as well as adding some downforce. Pretty interesting! U could probably find more on it @ MM&FF.com

Really? I wouldn't need to weld though, I already have a full size mock up of the shape and everything with some mounting points but didn't really bother to do it because the weather was getting colder out & now its Fing freezing lol

When it warms up again I'll put the car back up and see what exactly I can do without welding anything

I checked the MM&FF site and if u look under features, you'll see it on the first page. It's a lime green kinda color /w black rims. Unforetunately they don't got a real good pic of the full-on belly pan, but talk about it in the article. They do have one pic from the back w/ the diffuser showin. Hopefully here soon this will formulate into something all us stang lovers can purchase.
