    winter storage???

I'm planning on storing my car for the winter. I was wondering if I should do anything before I let it sit there for a few months? Ive heard of people taking the gas out before storing it, but dont know if that is necessary or if there is anything else I should do.

    -Thanks, Mike

you could disconnect the battery, just incase you have a draw anywhere so your battery doesn't go dead and freeze. Personally I wouldn't worry about the gas, just store it after it's about empty and put fresh in it when you get it back out. I dont' know where your storing it, but putting cardboard under the car will help absorb moisture and help keep your engine bay and associated parts from getting weathered.

is it good to use that if you run your tank pretty low before you let it sit for a while?

I have stored my car for the past 21 years. I bought a Battery Tender unit and leave it plugged in all Winter (except when I might run the car around the block...if there's no salt al all on the road). I always use Sta-Bil for the gas whe I anticipate long term storage (it keeps it fresh). You can change the oil before if it has a lot of miles on it and is due, otherwisw change it in the Spring. I also keep it covered in the garage with a high quality soft cover. One last thing I do is put 2 separate 4x4 sheets of plywood underneath the car to keep moisture from rising up to the chasis. You might want to put some moisture absorbers inside the car if your garage is damp (mine isn't).
This has worked for me for the past 21 years! Good Luck!

Keep the tank full. An empty tank is a recipie for a wet/rusty fuel system. Start it up every couple weeks and let it warm up fully, i.e. when the fan comes on its warmed up. If you are really worried about the gas use some stable. I never did and never had a problem. I also do what I just told you. Grab a beer or two and let it run for a while. It keeps the seals good too.

I park mine with a full tank, like wick and 94 said, to keep condensation out of it, or to a minimum. I've never used Sta-bil, though I've heard others who have, in addition to those posting here. I haven't had any problems. And it's nice to at least crank it up and let her run and idle in the garage, and maybe even sneak out on a mild winter day. I can remember doing it in January last year.

Something I just heard about this year... using plain charcoal briquets in an aluminum foil/disposable pie dish. The charcol absorbs moisture.
