In all fairness, you can find people like that on both sides if you look for them.

What's important and should be drummed into peoples heads is that Obama is a socialist. His presidency, should he get elected, could affect this country long after he is gone.

Whether the whole "Joe the Plumber" thing was a set up or not, the fact is that Obama really believes that if you work hard and succeed, the government should take some of your money and distribute it to people who for whatever reason aren't as successful as you.
Families that have been on the government dole for generations will get a new 4 year contract.
I think Obama is one of those people that thinks everyone is special. Well everyone isn't special. Some people are f***ups and always will be. Whether it be a drug or drinking problem, laziness, or they "feel" discriminated against, Obama will take care of them. He'll create a whole new generation of people that think it's governments job to take care of their daily needs.

The thought of him being elected just makes me sick.

^ do we have an icon for applause? that post deserves it. Very, very well said - and not just because I agree with you, but because it's logical.

I heard this weeks ago on Howard GREAT BIT!

This bit backs my theory (I know I'm going to catch heat on this but ....) you should have to pass a political knowledge test before you earn your right to cast a vote!

    o-yeah .. right on frankstang!

My live-in girlfriend and I earn 60-70K between us. On paper we'd probably benefit from his plan. But, if you look closer, there are some fundamental flaws that would actually cost us money in the long run.
Anytime you tax the people who own and run business, (the people Obama wants to raise taxes on), you're actually taxing everyone who makes less than those people.
How? Businesses simply pass the tax increase on to their customers in the form of higher prices on their products. If they can't offset the whole amount this way they do other things. Hire fewer new employees or lay off existing ones. If the numbers still don't turn in their favor, the really big businesses move to other countries with cheap labor and little to no business tax. It has a spiraling effect that doesn't end well for your average Joe.

Other than his economic plan, his belief in socialist principles as far as the morality of the country are dangerous. "Everything for the greater good." This idea leads to the banning of guns, the restriction of free speech, (by labeling it as hate speech, therefore making it illegal), the acceptance of all alternative lifestyles, etc.
You end up with a country with no basic moral principles. Everyone is right, no matter how far fetched their beliefs.

He would bend the basic principles this country was founded on to accommodate every splinter group, deconstructing the Constitution and the belief in self determination. Because, he believes there should be no self determination. That's something for the government to decide.

For "being tired of all this shit" you sure did pick two threads to post in about it.

Bush was still better than the alternatives at the time, Gore and Kerry. Like you said in the other thread, we're screwed either way. You are correct. Nothing the gov't does is really any good for the people. It's just a matter of choosing the LESSER of two evils.

Quoted for the truth. Frank, I wish everyone could think as logically as you.
