    Alternator Mount

Started to mock this up today. Wanted to get the alternator down so I can actually get to my distributor without pulling the alternator and get rid of the bracket for the power steering pump (now gone). I finally got my hands on the mounts needed, from a 2.3 Pinto without power steering. Add to that this one is the aluminum lower and you can see why iy was a little hard to find ;)

    Started like this..........

    Ended up like this.............

I also decided to push the alternator out as far as I could for even more room.

The upper mount is just the mock up with two brackets. I think I am going to cut the upper mount off before the slider, then make up an adjustable rod with heim ends for the adjuster.

If you where to do this with a "stock" type alternator, it would fit in the stock brackets as is. Mine is a 130 amp 3G alternator so the case is too big to fit "in" the mount as intended. A little grinding would fix that, but I prefer to keep the warranty on the alternator, and be able to just bolt one in as needed ;)

what did you do with the rack? Is it manual or did you just plug it?

Hell, it's already a Pinto engine so it's just going old school. As long as it's not a Pinto body, all is good.
