You don't get "it"
Maybe we just don't have the same values.
Maybe I prefer to be an ambitious individual, rather than hope for hand outs.
Maybe I just can't wrap my head around what soooo many of the population are thinking by supporting someone that, myself and many others believe, is a liability to the future welfare of our country (and I certainly don't mean the kind that is the hand out) - although I'm sure you can say the same about me.
If you are completely glazed over and don't remember anything about the above, just let me reiterate that facts win arguments not a slick talking charismatic new face. I've presented you with a lot of facts, you've done nothing other than give short and relatively mindless responses half of the time.
edit: I never said owned or idiot, although I won't keep you from saying either of those about yourself.
What facts did you present above? It started with a video that I posted. I got this response from you:
The video was never talking about subprime mortgage problems arising directly because of the democratic or republican parties. You give me the fact of "the subprime mortgage problem is the brainchild of the democratic party, and that both Bush & McCain both voted it down".
That fact that you so eloquently gave doesn't apply. Only reason the rates were brought up in that video was to say that McCains policies are not going to work and ultimately fail like mortgages.
Maybe your facts you use to "win arguments" would be more valid if they actually applied to the conversation at hand.
We can agree to disagree. I even complimented you in this thread but you want to try to tell me that "I don't get it" and that I'm "glazed over"?I have stated in many threads why I am voting Obama. No, believe it or not I am not voting for him because of a "slick talking charismatic new face".

I know you have hence why I stated in post #54:
"Bo, as well as some others, seems to have a very good reason to vote the way he will vote and I can respect that."
I like to see educated voters regardless if their opinions differ from my own.
But just because they do differ from yours doesn't make me ignorant to the presidential race. Thats the only point I was trying to get across. No hard feelings though. It will all be over next Tuesday.

We haven't talked about supreme court justices yet. Let's talk about that. Do you realize there could be 2-4 seats on the supreme court up for grabs? The president appoints these positions (or, at least sits on the advisory board and holds the tie-breaking vote). There are a few old peeps on there. AND, once you're on there, it's for life. For example, Hillary Clinton is only 60 years old. Do you truly believe in your heart and mind that you want her making decisions for you, your fellow citizens, your country for the next 25-30 years? And, that's just one off the top of my head.![]()

What are the implications of electing OBAMA?
I will just list the economic implications.
Taxing the crap out of small businesses that make greater then $250,000 will destroy an economy that is fluctuating. The small businesses, which employ a majority of the middle class, will either cut back / layoff people or go bankrupt and/or out of business. The middle class, which strokes the flame of the economy, will be out of work or have to take pay cuts. The middle classes lack of financial interaction will cause the larger businesses to fluctuate/fail. If the larger business will not be able to market their items, there will be no need for their employees. The cycle will continue up the ladder.
Quoting Dr. Michael Savage, it's Trickle Up Poverty.
Now, the scarry stuff. The impact of electing OBAMA will risk the world's economy and stability (and potential war). Israel, in the event OBAMA is elected, will view American Leadership as being weak, and will feel America will no longer support them. Israel's will institute a defensive effort against Iran which will be to bomb Iran's nuclear facilities? Israel is not like the United States when it comes time to take out someone. They are bad asses who have conventional/nuclear weapons and will use them. At the very least, this will destabilize the region. The other Muslim countries will view this as a Holy War and will join up against Israel. This will interrupt / terminate oil production and exportation in the middle east. The world's economy will collapse with global chaos. You all thought gas prices were high this summer. Gas, if you can get it, will be in the $7-$10 per gallon range. The prices on everything will go through the roof and limited supplies (food and other consumables) will be inaccessible to the masses. When people can no longer get food and water, everything will fall apart. This potentially could be the end of society around the world.
Of course Socialist Barrack Hussein Obama will not have to worry, he will have your wealth to spread around.
So how come he never spreads his own wealth around?
Time to do the right thing and send Obama back to his old job as a community agitator.
Pop open a cold one...It's NO BAMA TIME!

Obama Seeks National Disarmament
I'm the only major candidate who opposed this war from the beginning. And as president I will end it.
Second, I will cut tens of billions of dollars in wasteful spending.
I will cut investments in unproven missile defense systems.
I will not weaponize space.
I will slow our development of future combat systems.
And I will institute an independent "Defense Priorities Board" to ensure that the Quadrennial Defense Review is not used to justify unnecessary spending.
Third, I will set a goal of a world without nuclear weapons. To seek that goal, I will not develop new nuclear weapons; I will seek a global ban on the production of Missile material; and I will negotiate with Russia to take our ICBMs off hair-trigger alert, and to achieve deep cuts in our nuclear arsenals

The 'Race' Speech Revisited
By Charles Krauthammer
Friday, May 2, 2008; A21
"I can no more disown him [Jeremiah Wright] than I can disown my white grandmother."
-- Barack Obama, Philadelphia, March 18
Guess it's time to disown Granny, if Obama's famous Philadelphia "race" speech is to be believed. Of course, the speech was not just believed. It was hailed, celebrated, canonized as the greatest pronouncement on race in America since Lincoln at Cooper Union. A New York Times columnist said it "should be required reading in classrooms across the country." College seniors and first-graders, suggested the excitable Chris Matthews.
Apparently there's been a curriculum change. On Tuesday, the good senator begged to extend and revise his previous remarks on race. Moral equivalence between Grandma and Wright is now, as the Nixon administration used to say, inoperative. Poor Geraldine Ferraro, thrice lashed by Obama in Philadelphia as the white equivalent of Wright's raving racism, is off the hook.
These equivalences having been revealed as the cheap rhetorical tricks they always were, Obama has now decided that the man he simply could not banish because he had become part of Obama himself is, mirabile dictu, surgically excised.
At a news conference in North Carolina, Obama explained why he finally decided to do the deed. Apparently, Wright's latest comments -- Obama cited three in particular -- were so shockingly "divisive and destructive" that he had to renounce the man, not just the words.
What were Obama's three citations? Wright's claim that AIDS was invented by the U.S. government to commit genocide. His praise of Louis Farrakhan as a great man. And his blaming Sept. 11 on American "terrorism."
But these comments are not new. These were precisely the outrages that prompted the initial furor when the Wright tapes emerged seven weeks ago. Obama decided to cut off Wright not because Wright's words or character or views had suddenly changed. The only thing that changed was the venue in which Wright chose to display them -- live on national TV at the National Press Club. That unfortunate choice destroyed Obama's Philadelphia pretense that this "endless loop" of sermon excerpts being shown on "television sets and YouTube" had been taken out of context.
Obama's Philadelphia oration was an exercise in contextualization. In one particularly egregious play on white guilt, Obama had the audacity to suggest that whites should be ashamed that they were ever surprised by Wright's remarks: "The fact that so many people are surprised to hear that anger in some of Reverend Wright's sermons simply reminds us of the old truism that the most segregated hour of American life occurs on Sunday morning."
That was then. On Tuesday, Obama declared that he himself was surprised at Wright's outrages. But hadn't Obama told us that surprise about Wright is a result of white ignorance of black churches brought on by America's history of segregated services? How then to explain Obama's own presumed ignorance? Surely he too was not sitting in those segregated white churches on those fateful Sundays when he conveniently missed all of Wright's racist rants.
Obama's turning surprise about Wright into something to be counted against whites-- one of the more clever devices in that shameful, brilliantly executed, 5,000-word intellectual fraud in Philadelphia -- now stands discredited by Obama's own admission of surprise. But Obama's liberal acolytes are not daunted. They were taken in by the first great statement on race: the Annunciation, the Chosen One comes to heal us in Philly. They now are taken in by the second: the Renunciation.
Obama's newest attempt to save himself after Wright's latest poisonous performance is now declared the new final word on the subject. Therefore, any future ads linking Obama and Wright are preemptively declared out of bounds, illegitimate, indeed "race-baiting" (a New York Times editorial, April 30).
On what grounds? This 20-year association with Wright calls into question everything about Obama: his truthfulness in his serially adjusted stories of what he knew and when he knew it; his judgment in choosing as his mentor, pastor and great friend a man he just now realizes is a purveyor of racial hatred; and the central premise of his campaign, that he is the bringer of a "new politics," rising above the old Washington ways of expediency. It's hard to think of an act more blatantly expedient than renouncing Wright when his show, once done from the press club instead of the pulpit, could no longer be "contextualized" as something whites could not understand and only Obama could explain in all its complexity.
Turns out the Wright show was not that complex after all. Everyone understands it now. Even Obama.

Who votes we cant go to political sites and copy and paste the first things we read?
I have seen and read some of these statements long ago, these are things you won't see in the media cause obama is their man. If these were from a republican candidate you can bet the house the mainstream media would try to crucify him/her. Be careful what you wish for is all I can say.

Thats so insane and far fetched I just had to post this up.
Obama will negotiate forcefully to communicate with our enemies, telling them what we expect. We also need to make it perfectly clear to them that there are consequences to their actions, and that we can and will back up our words with force if necessary. Not everything is going to be solved by diplomacy, and no one is saying that it will. But should we continue to ignore these evil leaders? or should we make our presence and expectations known? I think the answer is obvious.
WE HAVE LOST A LOT OF RESPECT BY THE WAY WE HANDLED OURSELVES AFTER 9/11 IN IRAQ. OBAMA WILL BRING RESPECT BACK TO AMERICA. EUROPEANS LOVE OBAMA, THE REST OF THE WORLD LOVES OBAMA, AND THEY CANT WAIT FOR HIM TO REPRESENT OUR COUNTRY.
Also to those who ride the "Obama is a socialist" bandwagon:
Is Barack Obama a Socialist?
Obama is NOT proposing any socialist plans- that includes his health care policy. I invite anyone to find one proposed plan of Obama that is socialist. Now most people would consider his tax policy "socialist- like", so lets review it and see:
A socialist would want to substantially raise everyone's taxes, yet, Obama is cutting 95% of American’s taxes. In fact, Obama is cutting more taxes across the board than Ronald Regan- who is considered to be the "ultimate fiscal conservative." People making under $250,000 will have their taxes cut, people making between $250,00 and $600,00 will have their taxes stay similar to the way they are now.
Your taxes will either be cut or stay relatively the same if you are making under $600,000. Read that again.
If you are making above $600,000 your taxes will be raised… However, TAXES WILL NOT BE RAISED ANY MORE THAN UNDER BILL CLINTON.
In fact, Obama is not proposing any new taxes, he is simply letting the Bush tax cuts expire for the top 5% of Americans.
So under this republican logic that says Obama is a socialist, then Bill Clinton must also be a socialist since they are both bringing taxes to a similar amount for the top 5%.
Hmmm…. I don’t really remember a socialized country under the Clinton administration???
In conclusion, Obama can not be considered to be a socialist if Bill Clinton is not considered one also. In fact, Obama on the whole is cutting more taxes than under Bill Clinton, so the whole “spreading the wealth theory” would then conclude that Bill Clinton is more of a socialist then Obama would be. McCain spoke out against the bush tax cuts and was fighting for a simmilar plan to obama's back in 2000... by this logic, that would make McCain also a socialist???
McCain says Obama wants to "spread the wealth" yet McCain wants to spread the wealth to the top corporations without tax relief to those who need it and are the engine of the economy: the middle class.
Finally, would Colin Powell and Warren Buffet really both endorse Obama if he was a socialist?
Verdict: Obama is not a socialist in any way, shape, or form.

Barack Hussein Obama On Gun Control
Ban semi-automatics, and more possession restrictions
Principles that Obama supports on gun issues:
Ban the sale or transfer of all forms of semi-automatic weapons.
Increase state restrictions on the purchase and possession of firearms.
Require manufacturers to provide child-safety locks with firearms.

Voted NO on prohibiting lawsuits against gun manufacturers.
A bill to prohibit civil liability actions from being brought or continued against manufacturers, distributors, dealers, or importers of firearms or ammunition for damages, injunctive or other relief resulting from the misuse of their products by others. Voting YES would:
Exempt lawsuits brought against individuals who knowingly transfer a firearm that will be used to commit a violent or drug-trafficking crime
Exempt lawsuits against actions that result in death, physical injury or property damage due solely to a product defect
Call for the dismissal of all qualified civil liability actions pending on the date of enactment by the court in which the action was brought
Prohibit the manufacture, import, sale or delivery of armor piercing ammunition, and sets a minimum prison term of 15 years for violations
Require all licensed importers, manufacturers and dealers who engage in the transfer of handguns to provide secure gun storage or safety devices

Keep guns out of inner cities--but also problem of morality
I believe in keeping guns out of our inner cities, and that our leaders must say so in the face of the gun manfuacturer's lobby. But I also believe that when a gangbanger shoots indiscriminately into a crowd because he feels someone disrespected him, we have a problem of morality. Not only do ew need to punish thatman for his crime, but we need to acknowledge that there's a hole in his heart, one that government programs alone may not be able to repair.

Stop unscrupulous gun dealers dumping guns in cities
Q: How would you address gun violence that continues to be the #1 cause of death among African-American men?
A: You know, when the massacre happened at Virginia Tech, I think all of us were grief stricken and shocked by the carnage. But in this year alone, in Chicago, we've had 34 Chicago public school students gunned down and killed. And for the most part, there has been silence. We know what to do. We've got to enforce the gun laws that are on the books. We've got to make sure that unscrupulous gun dealers aren't loading up vans and dumping guns in our communities, because we know they're not made in our communities. There aren't any gun manufacturers here, right here in the middle of Detroit. But what we also have to do is to make sure that we change our politics so that we care just as much about those 30-some children in Chicago who've been shot as we do the children in Virginia Tech. That's a mindset that we have to have in the White House and we don't have it right now.

2000: cosponsored bill to limit purchases to 1 gun per month
Obama sought moderate gun control measures, such as a 2000 bill he cosponsored to limit handgun purchases to one per month (it did not pass). He voted against letting people violate local weapons bans in cases of self-defense, but also voted in2004 to let retired police officers carry concealed handguns.

Chicago Defender December 13, 1999,
Obama unveils federal gun bill
Obama is proposing to make it a felony for a gun owner whose firearm was stolen from his residence which causes harm to another person if that weapon was not securely stored in that home.
He's proposing restricting gun purchases to one weapon a month and banning the sale of firearms at gun shows except for "antique" weapons. Obama is also proposing increasing the licensing fee to obtain a federal firearms
Here's the Chicago Tribune, October 8, 2004:
In 2001, Obama was one of just nine senators to vote against a bill that toughened penalties for violent crimes committed during gang activity. Obama said the law did not clearly define a gang member and he questioned why lawmakers were targeting Hispanics and blacks for stiffer sentences.
Two years earlier, after the Columbine High School shootings in Colorado, Obama voted "present" on a bill requiring juveniles to be prosecuted as adults for firing a firearm on or near school property.
Obama also voted against a bill permitting gun owners to claim self-defense when using a gun in their homes if the local community bans the use of handguns. Obama said municipalities should control local gun regulations, not the state.
"That law eviscerated anti-handgun ordinances in some communities," Obama said. "The way I feel, Wilmette should not determine Mattoon's firearms ordinances and Mattoon should not determine Wilmette's."
Associated Press, Sept. 11, 2004:
-Voted 'No' on letting people claim a self-defense protection in court for using a gun in their homes despite local weapons bans. (SB2165, 2004)
-Voted 'Yes' on letting retired police and military police carry concealed weapons. (SB2188, 2004)
Obama won the endorsement of the Illinois Fraternal Order of Police. Union officials cited Obama's longtime support of gun-control measures and his willingness to negotiate compromises on bills backed or opposed by the FOP
