info on jeeps needed...

well i currently looking into getting a 99 jeep wrangler 4.0 5 spd .. anyone ever have a jeep and what should i look out for before i purchase . this jeep has a 4inch lift with a 2inch body and a avenger supercharger and lots of other goodies .. any known problems with the 99 jeeps that anybody know of ... im a bit leary about buying anything that is not a mustang .buying cars is a very scary investment ... so if anybody can help me out i would appreciate it ... thanks alot .. ill include pic ... seems like a really nice jeep

ok. first complaint would be that because of the top. These things are freakin COLD in the winter....not like when you first get in your car until it warms up...i mean COLD.

Second, the tops can be a bitch to take on and off.

other than that i have no issues with them. : )

OH i forgot to mention the good. with 31's stuffed under there they literally will go ANYWHERE...and i mean that. And its really really fun to take the doors and top off and cruise around.

I had a 89 and a 2000 XJ and gas mileage was horrible, but wherever you point them they go. Wranglers do seem to hold value though. All 4.0's seen to have a KNOCK to them but I have seen them with tons of mileage.

i cant say about the top though, mine was a hard top
also had a 97 wrangler 4.0 5 spd with a lift for awhile both were awesome

engine did seem a little noisy but it does have a little 0ver 130k . i was told these 4.0's are good for 200k and then some ... the supercharger seems to be running about 6-8 lbs of boost so i dont think its enough to have done any damage to the engine . it doesnt smoke or leak anything . so i dont know what else to look for

Look for trans issues..some are beat and dont hold up well. Pinion and carrier bearings ...you might hear a howling sound..time to replace.Its got a body lift...check all the bushing to make sure they arent cracked and brittle.

I know it's a 99, but look for rust, seems all Jeeps like to rust.

I used to have a 78 CJ7 with a 304 engine, loved it, but the body rotted off and I sold it. I wish I still had it casue I would have put a fiberglass body on it.

dunno anything about that jeep up there, but this is a personal friends jeep and i can assure you that you wont find one with this stuff done to it and it still be this clean and nice! NNOOOO shortcuts were taken on this one, and its never ever wheeled!! (which i think is a waste, but at least its still nice :D )

Hey turbo buddy of mine bought a wrangler exactly like that one except with air..40k miles and stockr ear diff but explorer 8.8 is going in for 8k bucks lol. Oh hey BadF250...i didnt even think about mentioning rust because its like a given with a jeep lol.

I had an 05 rubicon loved it. traded it in for my H1 in 06 I liked the jeep family everyone waved to me now I get dirty looks and the occasional middle finger in the H1 from wrangler owners lol I think its funny.
