Cool, but now that I think about it he might be better with the 4.0" stroke---can help get a cheaper shelf piston thats boost friendly. I had to go custom to get it at 9:1.
Thats great its an earlier block too. Be nice to have the machine shop check the cylinders closely, might be safe to go .040 or .060 over. Not as big of a deal as he's boosted but any valve unshrouding helps if its safe.
    Keep us posted.

i personally like the 393, its a off the shelf 5.0 piston, stock windsor rods, and a scat 3.85 stroke crank, these storoker have no oil control problems and can be built pretty easily.. 408s are nice to.
2015 A6 Mustang GT that so far has gone 9.48@147 but still the fastest prochargerd S550 in the world aside from Tim Essick's!

Never hear about oil control problems in any of the stroked Windsors.
The 392 is fine, but the piston will be heavier and for a boosted situation, I'd think he'd go with a forged kit which makes the 408 kit about the same.
I like the larger strokes but like I said, piston availability for lower compression may be an issue bigger than 408.

393's are harder to balance and cost more to balance to boot...:)

anytime that wrist pin is up in the oil ring you will have oil issues... and i think its up there on a 408, but i cant remember totally...

More material has to be removed in order for it to be balanced within spec.
Ask any Reputable builder/balance shop that has built many 393, 408, 418, and 427's.
Much of this depends on the crank being used also.
Building a 393 is kinda like building a 331.... why take less cubes/power when your already in the process of building the engine?
