Looking for opinions on lifts (2 post vs. 4 post)

I put a deposit on two used Rotary lifts. One 7000lb 2 post asymmetric and one 12000lb drive on ramp with a set of roller jacks. The 2 post is a no brainer for me. But the drive on is bit of a problem. I have about 25 feet of room between the front and the back wall of the garage. The drive on lift is about 21 feet long. By the time the time it is installed with ramps, I will about 3 feet of space to walk by the lift. It will basically cut the garage in half. I was looking for the drive on for storage of two cars in an over under configuration and to occasionally work on my Dad’s work van and friend’s F350 diesel pick up.

I local lift installers said to just get 2 of the two post lifts. One for working on cars and one for storage. ”Just let the suspension hang.”

Ideas? How helpful for a four port lift be? Is it safe to store a car on a two post lift? Will it damage the suspension to be hanging for years at a time?

I dont think you wanna have the sus. hanging for 5 years or anything like that.. unless its a full frame car, i dont think i would store em for to long on a 2 post lift.. and the cool thing about a 4 post is once the car is in the air you can jack up the sus. a little to really preserve it..

I just went to Reading PA with a friend of mine to pick his Kwik Lift up. Nice little unit. The previous owner had it for two years and never used it. My friend picked it up for 600.00 plus gas money. Good for him.

For storing a car a 4 post is the way to go. Maybe it's just me, but the 4 post that is at my Dad's seems to have more room underneath it than any of the 2 post I have ever seen.

if you are gonna be working on the cars i would go two post. there are times where four post would be nice but i would say it gets in teh way more than it doesn't there is a reason most dealers don't have them.

i have a two post i would like to get another one eventually
