    Arrow Mass Air Conversion

I see someone finally figured out a way to use a Mass Air meter using a L series computer!

" I have real time data using the VAM, Draw through MAF, Blow through MAF and Speed Density on a 2.3 turbo engine. The data measures 12.5 times in 1 second. I can say from studying the data that Speed Density is the best way, Blow through MAF 2nd, VAM 3rd and Draw through MAF 4th.

Doing a 3rd gear pull between 2500-6000 rpm the blow through maf accelerated 3.5 seconds faster than the VAM. The speed density accelerated 0.1 seconds faster than the blow through maf and had a smoother A/F ratio while doing it."

I dont think its so much that it works, its just new that it works well ;) Guys have been doing the Mass air (draw through) with both the "P" and "L" series stuff for a while, and some have played around with the MAF as a blow through too. I'm converting to the "L" series simply becasue of the faster processor and possibility of more data points in the transfer table. I have the .bin files for mass air on the P and L series as a draw through right now, and am not going to put any time into trying to make those work. Thats how much I like the blow through set up.

I have all of the parts here now.....several mass air meters, LA3, vam to gut for parts, etc. It will all be mounted up and ready to start testing in the spring. I will have the same datalogging, so we will see. I want that VAM gone. After I get it up and running on mine, we can do it on your your Pinto if you like

Two options....Get an EEC Tuner / TwEECer and have at it, or wait for me to get it done, and copy my set-up The way I am doing the blow through is sort of new territory so its got to get done for me to give you any help (If it even works ;) ). I have .bin files for draw through MAF with a 80 mm meter if you want to try it that way, but I'm not even going to try it myself.

You have more faith in me than I do right now, my head is about ready to explode from reading all the code and tables involved :o I do think I have it figured out, but I need to drive the car and get some data logs to know if i'm right. On the bright side, once I get it sorted out, it should work as well as the VAM system on just about anyones car with a T3 size turbo as long as we use the same MAF electronics, At a minimum, it will be about as adaptable as the VAM is, and you wont have that huge restriction in the intake tract :D
