    Detonation Carnage....

Well.....I finally got a chance to get some pics of the damage to my engine. (Sorry for the quality, cell phone was all I had)
More than likely it was caused by detonation........oh yeah, those are FORGED SRP Pistons.

Meaning what? If you mean what am I going to do to fix it......pretty much same setup, except.....
New 351 STD Bore block....boring to 30 over. Changing the CR down to a more streetable 10.8 to 1 with some new Reverse domes 14 cc I think......(still have to do some measuring.)
Thank God all the internals other than the pistons are ok.....very minor damage to the heads...all cleanable and a few bent valves.

No no......this happened @ the Strip....4 runs to be exact. My Car is so loud....(3 in Exhaust with race mufflers) that there is no way to hear it.
Basically from what info I gathered so far, the engine was built to be an 11 to 1 compression ....thus running 94 Octane. However, upon tearing it down and doing a compression fill test....it looks like it was more 12.5 to 1. You do the math.....This is what happens when you run a 12.5 to 1 engine on pump gas @ 7000RPM.

I'll let you know how the Never Dull works out......

Detonation is an AMAZING thing and can work VERY fast. This happened in 4th gear over less than 200 rpm range (5800-6000) when I blew a FPR reference line off.

I bet all of that could have been done on one pass.

I'm pretty sure mine started on my 3rd pass in 3rd gear....and the rest on the next run.......funny thing is.....it ran like a raped ape even with the detonation. I'm guesing with the right gas....I would have been mid 10's.

Lean is mean and those self lightening pistons make lots more power I figured that happened over a relatively quick period. Probably ran great until it got into the rings enough to loose sealing (and plasma coated the valves too).

Looking at the pictures it looks like sharp clean breaks. Like faulty pistons. Is that possible?

Every piston in every picture I see there died of detonation for sure. They burn down to the ring lands near the valve reliefs first, then start to look like you took a 5# sledge to them if you keep rattling them.
