My opinion....331....less stress on the cylinder walls. My

All Motor.
either motor on a stock block might be trouble with a blower.
I'd go 331 and maybe 10 psi
if you are buying a good block go for the 347
88 GT...and some boost
i was thinking of dss or chp. what size t-body,injectors would i run with blower...
thanx
both are stock blocks and stay away from DSS.That is all junk stuff
to pick throttle body would determine head size as well as intake.
60's will prolly be a minimum on injectors
88 GT...and some boost
what kind of long block assembly would perfer? afr 185 heads, prob. new performer 2 intakes
If you want to make less power go with the 331.

[QUOTE=gmkillr;138030]If you want to make less power go with the 331.
i never understood this comment when this question was asked. there are mazdas out there making damn near a 1000 hp with only 1.3l so if this is ur theroy then wasnt every motor out there with more cubic inches making way more power. it all depends on the combanation, it doesnt have everything to do with total cubic inches to make power cause there is alot of big blocks out there that i will wipe the floor with on a dyno or a drag strip and my motor which only has 327 cubic inches.
a 331 stroker will work better with the 8.2 deck height if u r using a stock block now if ur going with a aftermarket block that has a dif. deck height such as a 8.7 deck height then go with the 347

No replacement for displacement.
Go 347.

[QUOTE=fastfox91;138047]Build a 331 and a 347 and use the exact same H/C/I on the enigne.
The 347 will make more power all day long.
This is not opinion, this is fact.
This is total b.s.....
Please tell me your first hand knowledge of these experiences???
Why will the 331 work better with the stock block?
Please, please don't say r/s ratio....
If you like the 331 then say I like the 331 for xxxx reason, don't spread mis-information.
[quote=fastfox91;138047]You're right but if you take the same H/C/I on both 331/347 the 347 will make more power or at least make more torque and its power earlier.
Less revs are always your friend as is torque on the street, both of which favor a 347.
There's a reason class racing has cid restrictions.

Don't get sucked in by all the advertising of 331 vs 347 debate. If a 347 is assembled correctly it won't be an oil burner. As for cylinder side siding, that's over blown as well. It's all about proper assembly, the difference in the (331 vs 347)piston compression height is .075" . That's insignificant.
Why does larger discplacement? Yes there are small 4-cyl motors making big power. Show me a 1000 hp 4 cyl street car. I'll bet a can find a 1000 hp 347. It's easier to make power with large displacement motors on the same octane/boost etc... biminiLX has the right idea, a 427 turbo.
