Ok...whats with this? New Paypal Scam?

I have items on Craigslist and I have received 3 emails all similar to the description below.
Can they now scam Paypal as well? I thought Paypal was pretty secure, but now I am wondering> Anybody know what the dealio is?

thanks. and they're not scamming paypal, they're scammin' you with a transaction through paypal... they send you a fraudulent payment that takes day to clear i hopes that you will forward the money they're askin' for... you're out that, then paypal comes back and says "oh, that money wasn't real" just don't do it
