Changing the name of the site?

With all the heat from Ford and the wide variety of different vehicles we have on this board, im thinking of changing the name to steelcitymusclecars. I bought the name a few years ago but never did anything with it. What does everyone think?

Like i said in the other thread, If it keeps you out of trouble, Lou, then I have no problem with it, however, I voted no because I believe we should fight for it, and I like the name and what it stands for.

x2... we shouldn't let ford do this out of nowhere, you have been using this name for years with no problems (at least none that im aware of). We are not hurting ford in any way and we arent making money off of using their name. Also, we arent even using Mustang...just stang...

One more thing: i thought it was a good idea as mentioned in the other thread that maybe you could just put a disclaimer on the site that says we are in no way affiliated with Ford motor company

    Still thinking before I vote..

if it would avoid the legal trouble, then yes I'd change the name. It will also give the site more room to grow by welcoming other make/model enthusiasts, which should be a good thing.

Steel City Muscle is better than anything I can think of right now. The name steel city stangs is pretty damn good IMO. Only other thoughts I've had as far as a new name is Steel City Horsepower. I dunno, I just hope for something that emphasizes a lack of import posters lol

I remember like a year or two, Ford sued the Black Mustang Club (a site for just mustangs with black paint) over their annual BMC calendar. I forget what happened, but I think it would be a good idea to look into it (I'm feeling lazy right now)

    I voted NO.

I like Steel City Stangs. Ford is just trying to flex its muscle because all of the big 3 are in financial hardship right now. Personally I don't care if they get bailed out or not. If they get a free ride whats gonna make them change anything to keep it from happening again? I mean Ford announced the closing of the F150 plant down here in Norfolk around the time that the whole ordeal with BMC came around, Coincidence, I don't know but it seem like they only care about people using the names of their vehicles when they are worried about their profit margin.

I say Steel City Stangs rocks as it is but Lou you have to do what will be asier on you.

I do like the sound of Steel City Muscle though as MBH stated or

wow didn't know about the crackdown. but steel city musclecars isn't too bad. it would def attract other makes and models. the board is what the members make it. yeah you might not like rice/sport compacts. but there are some true hotrodders in those fields that i can say i learned a lot from and applied it to domestic technology.

From what I can recall. The only thing that came out of the suit against Black Mustang Club was they had to change their name to BMC. They went after SVTPerformance and that was dropped too b/c SVTP changed their logo so it wasnt exactly like the Ford SVT logo.

I say do change it until you have too. This is site is awesome and Im glad you all welcomed me since Im not from Pittsburgh. But its not that big and I like that fact. The small sites are the ones I frequent more b/c of the friendships that develop and there isnt all the bickering that happens at the big forums.

I voted no just because when you say the name alot of people know it and realize who you are associated with. If it changed people might think differently. If it keeps lou outta trouble then definately change it but maybe this ford ordeal will just blow over with time

x2 sir, I like the fact that I am not located in the Steel City but it doesn't matter on here, I too appreciate the smaller sites for those reasons, I am a member of Popsracing.com and the admin of the site came to busch gardens on vacation and delivered an engine and picked up parts for guys I sold to up in NY. I have gotten so much help from people on here unlike on the bigger sites like corral you get the typical smart ass comments before anyone actually addresses the question you have.

But back on Topic I wouldn't think they could do anything because it doesn't actually say Mustang in the site name. I don't know like I said Lou do what you think is best for the site.

I voted no because i also like what the name stands for, a (more often then not) bunch of fun people who just have a general interest in cars and people with knowledge and ownership of several different makes and models. i say keep the name, unless it gets you in trouble lou. I don't think that the word "Stang" has any copyright issues?

I voted yes so that it would cause less problems for lou and the affects that it may cause in the future, and there is no harm into adding more local people to the site.. When i say i am a part of it, they say they thought it was only for stangs and i own a camaro and probably wont go back to a stang, but will still be a member cause of the general knowledge that the people on the board have about cars in general..

But that is my opinion.. I am a car lover which means i like ALL cars and dont hate on any of them.. Everyone has their own tastes.

Isnt that the truth, I hardly post on bigger forums because 80% percent of the people on them are tools that think they know everything!

I voted no, because its called scs for a reason...Its for people who have mustangs who want to learn more, buy mustang parts, and meet up with other mustang people..I like how the majority of members have mustangs..Im with Brian on this one, Im not hatin on other enthusiasts, but keep it ford..Theres other sites out there for other people..Pittspeed being one, even though its filled with douchebag tools..

No. as stated, if it *must* be done but "Stangs" is not "Mustang". they can't claim copyright infringement - except they might give shit about the pony in the logo? they can't possibly enforce this legally?? it's against our constitutional rights (which doesn't hold water for anything anymore) and what the hell are they gonna do with all these domain names anyway? it's really sad to have to distance yourself from FoMoCo when all we do is appreciate the only staple of their company... okay, rambling now, please note post in other thread
