im thinking of going to a tech school in the near future. just seeing if anyone has gone to one or has good info on them.
i went to wyotech and i loved it! they teach you a lot!!
waste of time. but if you are gonna go make sure and make hte most of it. you will only get ouit of it as what you put into it.
tech school like computers? The teachers i had at PTI for IT were amazing.
I went to a tech school, but to work on airplanes and helicopters and to tell you the truth i would not change my profession if you would pay me.. I love my job, i have been all over the country already and get paid for it..
like it was said above you get out of it wat you put into it. if you commit to it you will learn. have the kids that go to that school are tool bags who just go there for somthing to do and hope to pass. i acutally tried hard and studied to get my A's
the tranny class was my fav. you cant pass the class unless your group can sucessfully rebuild a 4t60e? (gm tranny in buicks and grand prix i think) you have to put it on a dyno and make sure it uses all the gears
My buddy goes to wyo and loves it!

mybest bet for a young guy looking for a mechanical type future is to look into diesel/truck school. trucks are far, far, eaiser to fix & truck garages in general are much more stable working environments than car type garages. there is also a very high demand for truck mechanics & the income potental is huge.

I graduated from the ford asset program at ccac. Its a 2 year program you need a dealership as a sponsor. In the end you end up with an associates degree and a ford factory certified. and its a third of the cost of wyo or uti. We had a guy from uti in our shop spent 37,000 for school and never touched a wrench. I dont know anyone that went to wyo to tell you how they do things but they are still expensive. I can give you the number for the west hills campus where the new technology center is at. You want to talk to Bob Koch. Hes the head of the whole automotive program and a ford instructor. You also have the choice of general motors and mopar training. If you dont want to go the new car dealer route the have other automotive classes available. the phone # for the west hills center is (412) 788-7388 the number is to the desk ask for Bob Koch or info on automotive program. If you want you can call me directly.

i have a shop that is why i don't think it is worth it.
it seems a lot of kids that go to wyotech have never touched a wrench and going there on their parent's dime. i am sure it is a good school but have not been impressed with the graduates that i have met from there.
thats what a lot of the kids are like from there. thats why i say you get out of it wat you put into it. i had 3 years expeirence before i went there so i had a decent background of cars so the whole oil change lecture sucked but soon after that i was doing diags on cars and i learned alot about no starts and so on...

I was looking into the auto field until i compared the wages, and benefits and so on and so forth and made my decision to do what i do..
It all comes down to what YOU want to do.. Take a tour of the places you are looking into and talk to the instructiors most importantly and make the decision on what YOU want not the he said, she said.
