If it can pass (safety) inspection and has a registration. My car doesn't pass emmisions unless driven under 5,000 miles a year.

Exactly. If it can be inspected, it's a street car.

I say inspection stickers (emissions if required), cats (if required), pump gas. All else goes.

You eliminate cars like Balaska's... caged, 347 stroker... mostly run on the drive to and from the track, a good 25-30 miles each way.
So I disagree. His is a bad azz street car that goes mid to low 11s.
If it's licensed, inspected, and registered, and you can drive it home after dark (ie, all the lights work), it's a street car. I don't care what fuel or power adders.
My friend's AMX has gone a best of 8.89. Obviously, they wouldn't drive it on the street with the slicks or wheelie bars, but this car is 100% street legal.
Yeah I would eliminate cars like Balaska's.
think about it - he is an avid racer, and that is his race car. That's my opinion of it and I really don't give a crap who agrees or disagrees
Also, if the car can't make a 25-30 mile trip routinely without any drama, its either a piece of shit, a race car or somewhere in between.

Yes, I would consider your car a street car. Its a very similar configuration to what the car came with and you don't have a cage (right?)
Being a street car has nothing to do with how fast a car is, it has to do more with the intent of the car IMO.
edit: I'm sure that some people wouldn't call my car a street car, even though most of the mods are appearance mods.

NO i havent, i still bump my threads daily, but still no interest once i move and its not sold by then then i will be def keeping it..
I already started getting the parts i need. Some tranny, suspension parts... Going to be a cam only ls1 with spray looking for 12.0 times with an auto and 3600 stall
lol you walked right into that one though...
I think that as far as a street car or not, not every car will play by the same rules.
For instance, if I took a notch & dropped 15k into the motor/chassis I'd certainly call that a track car, because its not worth much outside of that. Is it cool? probably cool as hell, but that isn't whats asked.
If I took a Lamborghini Gallardo, sent it to underground racing and dropped another 80k for them to build a 1000+ awhp turbo & motor package, I don't think anyone would call it anything but a street car (some might just call it insane).
The monetary value of the car relative to the amount of money spent on go fast parts, etc. is pretty important to keep in perspective. The "curb appeal" of the car is also something to think about as well. If your everyday joe can't appreciate it, you're either building some sort of a car that is extreme in one aspect (car audio, show car, track car, etc) or you have bad taste
Alright boys, time to have some fun with this one........
pump gas.
Check - Although I add Torco for the track (safety)
no cutting/welding/tubbing the car to "make it work".
Check
stock or near stock long block.
Check - do I get extra point for dragging the 100K mile short block out from under MAP's parts shelf after he dug it out of a core pile at a rebuilder ??
no cage (IMO!)
Damn, got me here although it's a 6 point with removable door bars and LEGAL at the track. Yeah, I like to be legal (and safe) rather than "cool" (IMO!) ;)
can pass inspection legally. (If the car is catless, but could pass if it had cats, then its still a street car.)
Check - Mine passes inspection legally, and is exempt from emissions under 5K miles / year.
full interior (including HVAC & stereo).
Am I disquilified here because my car came without air conditioning???
factory style suspension.
Glad you added "style", I'm okay with trhe baseline stuff then.
can be taken on a road trip in near stock level comfort/driveability.
Check - take it on trips alot. MAP and I drove it over 100 miles each way into Ohio and got 27+ mph doing it.
but most importantly....... spends the vast majority of its time being driven on the street. The time driving to/from the track doesn't count as street time.
Damn, got me again. Here I spend most of my free time AT the track, driving it to and from the track, and to work most days it's nice, but the time at the track, and getting there and home probably equals more time than my 15 minutes to work.
Too bad, mines not a street car by your deffinitions Do cars get disqualified if they spend most of it's time in the garage hiding from the weather or at someones shop having work done for you too??
I would add one more - looks really cool at the flashlight drags, even if you couldnt cut a light at the track to save your life. That's probably a better definition of a "street" car than anything you got here.
hehehehehehe All in good fun, I'm bored ;)
