Nope, no times :( - and don't imagine I ever will have any, being that the car is being sold....

don't get me wrong - i know there's tons of cars out there faster than mine, but do you really think a 500-550 rwhp cobra is going to keep up with my car? and please spare me the whole "its not just about dyno numbers" speech... are you delusional?

Put my money on the cobra from a dig. Only because of traction issues I know your car would have. Thats assuming You were both at the track running a 1/4 mile and on DR's. Your car puts out wads of power and from a roll it would rape most vehicles on this site...well just about anything you run into for that matter.

I quoted John before I saw this response.
I just wanted to see the race
You should easily trap 130mph, now the ET is always a question mark for anyone (but I think you'd do OK).

Ahh well mine wont be a street car I guess.
Maybe a roll bar to make me safe For when I do race it.
Stock style suspension. Woot Mine will have uppers and lowers like factory.
Stock or near stock long block? So..If you rebuild it and put forged stuff in it like a cobra has it isnt stock anymore?
Full interior..It wil have 2 seats. I don't haul more then one person at a time besides me so thats a full interior
    Pump gas Woot another point.
No A/c guess makes it a race car. 55 and the windows down works.

I'll drive it to work as long as gas prices don't go threw the roof again. but, with other vehicles to drive to work and worry less about other idiots hitting it. It just may stay home some days.
Hmm, I though about mini tubbing it just to look cool and have D.O.T tires and it will pass all inspections relavent to my county. (fayette rules no emissions)
12 second car and it will not be a street car hehe.

My car was a street legal car, it was not chopped up at all, had all factory equipment still intact(air, PS/PB, factory interior, radio, etc.) Looking at the car even with the hood up most people never knew what was done to it, with the exception of the wheels, most would of thought it was just a cobra with nice wheels. It passed inspection, was emmision exempt and had 680rwhp/700rwtq. So yes it was a street car.

I would add one more - looks really cool at the flashlight drags, even if you couldnt cut a light at the track to save your life. That's probably a better definition of a "street" car than anything you got here.

Its a dead argument, b/c we'll never find out unless i get times from the next owner..... but for the sake of arguing - surprisingly, my car gets great traction ... 3.08 gears really help out a lot! On a warm summer day, i can get traction in first gear on good pavement... not necessarily dead hook, but very little slippage and enough to make it feel like the air is getting squeezed from your lungs
For once, boost lag can do some good by helping get some traction before the freight train comes 'a rollin'

Not trying to argue. I wish we could see some track times out of that beast. With the torque that car makes, im sure you def. feel some pull! Lol

a street car is any car that can pass inspection anywhere it is taken, not just to your buddy with a garage that lets stuff slide.

Too bad, mines not a street car by your deffinitions Do cars get disqualified if they spend most of it's time in the garage hiding from the weather or at someones shop having work done for you too??

good one Bob!! this is deff a sore subject, but like i said before, it boils down to how serious you are about your street car... take my 81, it didnt start out like this, first it had a 289 that went 13.79 every PASS, then i tore it down and tubbed it and caged it, and finally added the 466ci mountain motor.. and now it goes 9.70s on 93 octane... and hopefully next year its gonna goe 8s on pump gas... thats my plan at least.. and its a street car to me, i drive it around.. and this car still has full glass, stock dash with tilt column, windsheild wipers, all lights, horn, power windows, full exhuast (it goes 9s with a full exhuast) and just about all the street gear.. and i totally love it, i would never get rid of the street gear, then i would feel like a race car..... if i wanted a race car i would build a chassis car, something a little more serious...

You think that car would make it to the zeli FLD's? That would be something to see, a car running 8's that was driven from the waynesburg area to zeli!

    pump gas.
Check - Although I add Torco for the track (safety)

no cutting/welding/tubbing the car to "make it work".

    Check

stock or near stock long block.

Check - do I get extra point for dragging the 100K mile short block out from under MAP's parts shelf after he dug it out of a core pile at a rebuilder ??

    no cage (IMO!)

Damn, got me here although it's a 6 point with removable door bars and LEGAL at the track. Yeah, I like to be legal (and safe) rather than "cool" (IMO!) ;)

can pass inspection legally. (If the car is catless, but could pass if it had cats, then its still a street car.)

Check - Mine passes inspection legally, and is exempt from emissions under 5K miles / year.

full interior (including HVAC & stereo).

Am I disquilified here because my car came without air conditioning???

    factory style suspension.

Glad you added "style", I'm okay with trhe baseline stuff then.

can be taken on a road trip in near stock level comfort/driveability.

Check - take it on trips alot. MAP and I drove it over 100 miles each way into Ohio and got 27+ mph doing it.

but most importantly....... spends the vast majority of its time being driven on the street. The time driving to/from the track doesn't count as street time.

Damn, got me again. Here I spend most of my free time AT the track, driving it to and from the track, and to work most days it's nice, but the time at the track, and getting there and home probably equals more time than my 15 minutes to work.

your car isn't far from a street car IMO. Does it get a lot of time at the track? yes absolutely. Do you beat the hell out of it? yes absolutely. Is it wild enough to be a straight up race car? **** no LOL.

As far as garaging my car and keeping it out of poor weather, I'm sorry you don't have the same opportunity. That's really unfortunate. I enjoy my car when the weather is nice, it gives me something extra to look forward to. I've driven the car to the Akron area and back, its not like its even remotely unreliable - it is however a garage queen, and that's the way I intend to keep it.

And as far as your flashlight drags comment, I'm assuming that you meant the time we raced at PRP. The reason I don't try to "cut a light" is because I don't hold a lot of faith in the guy next to me being in complete control of his car when he is trying to launch all out. Sorry bobbers, I know you're a good driver and all, but I wasn't about to let your capri mess up my car. I do that every time I have taken my car down the track for that very reason.

I'm sure you don't care for it, but I'll tell you why else I went slow off the start. First time taking a fast car down the track, I've never taken the time to familiarize myself with launching the car on the street so why would I try it in an entirely foreign environment? Hell no I'm not going to go flat out. Your car isn't that fast and I didn't have a helmet. The closer our two cars finish together, the less conspicuous it will look... so I gave you a big ass head start.

    video documentation of said 'launch'
    http://videos.streetfire.net/video/200972.htm

Does that honestly look like I'm trying when I raced you? I did try against the evo, however I didn't know he had a big turbo on it otherwise I'd have tried to cut the light. Remember, I didn't have a helmet that day - so my #1 goal was not to get into any type of an accident, and my #2 was not to get thrown out.

As far as having someone else work on the car, boo friggin hoo! What, you expect me to weld on my subframes myself? How about do my own PPRV delete? GTFO you sound like you have a chip on your shoulder about something

I've beat gates on the street before.... Despite Bob's friendly attack on my driving skills, I know what I'm doing. Your car is an entirely different animal though. If you keep it, I'll (hope) give you something to at least think twice about this spring

Sorry John, I can't cut a light to save my life

Besides, Bish has stated that he doesn't have traction problems on the street, and I tend to believe him. I'm sure he has the boost turned down

No i don't have traction problems, but i also don't have the boost turned down as you assume... thats on the same 13.5 psi that the dyno numbers come from.... I run a speed density tune, so I don't have the luxury of turning the boost up and down, unless i have several tunes for the car - which i don't.... I know its hard to believe that you can put 700rwhp/rwtq down to the ground on the street, but my car is living proof... there's a lot of things factoring into it... fresh Mickey's, tall gearing, not revving to 5000rpms and dumping the clutch, rigid chassis, and so forth

I won't have my car - plain and simple - i'm buying a home, and just can't afford to do both.... What are you planning to do? if you would want to make me think twice, you better be bringing an awful lot to the table. Along the lines of the discussion above, turbo cars have less drag, and at the same HP level, a positive displacement car will have much more traction issues than a turbo car... gearing would play a roll at low speeds, but i have no complaints about my tall gearing...

And please don't take me wrong - you have an awesome car, and i'm not dogging it at all - i think you know that... .. but unless we're doing a 0-60mph run or a fishtail competition, a mid 500rwhp cobra isn't really wouldn't worry me much at all.... i just thought it was a little bit funny about the comment that someone said earlier (other than its kinda expected since i'm on a mustang site)... its sorta like guys on LS1tech saying that a bolt-on LS1 will outrun a pullied/ported cobra... a bunch of guys will run to their rescue and say "yea, yea, that happens all the time" - but those of us that don't live in their fantasy world understand how it really is...

Ah, thought you woulda had boost limited in 1st & maybe 2nd or something, but I remember that you said you didn't have any issues on the street.

very likely that I won't be in the 500 club this spring, and I don't have any traction issues to speak of on the street right so long as its warm out but I'll keep my fingers crossed lol. I was really just alluding to the fact that it won't be as slow as it is now. From a bench racer's stand point, unless you had some major driver error, you'd beat me every time. I don't have a problem with that either, your car is one helluva machine!!

Oh and Bob, I was thinking about mentioning stereo/HCAV if equipped from the factory (the Evo RS comes to mind)

No - to limit boost in different gears would probably require some computer system that I didn't want to buy...

Good luck with your project... just don't make the mistake I did... by spending a ton of money, and then realizing, o wait i might wanna buy a house in the next couple years... lol

I'm not going to spend a ton, but I'm going to end up in the same situation as you anyway. I can almost count on it
