Buy Made in the USA - It Matters.
I've had an older 911 for a number of years.
My '85 GT is a shot of Jack Daniels, my '83 911 is a glass of red wine.
I really like them both, but there's plenty to dislike in each of them as well.
The Boxsters are incredible cars. You might note they don't come fitted with drag radials because they aren't drag racers. You can't possibly begin to appreciate how great a car it is in a quick spin around the block.
V8's are impressive for the first 1320 feet, Porsches take a bit more foreplay to get all excited.
If you don't want to buy it, take it for a short test drive. If you want to buy it, spend the afternoon with it.
Oh, I've passed lots of Porsches with my Mustang at BeaveRun but I've never driven a stock car more track ready than a Porsche.
I know what you mean about the driving experience, my M3 is exactly the same thing. Which is why it is for sale. I appreciate lap times much more than the experience of driving. Although if I had the coin you bet there would be a GT2 sitting in my driveway.
No Boxters, but I had a 944 and a 944S. Very expensive maint. items ( seem to think I paid nearly 200 for a set of 4 plug wires at that import place in Greensburg). Not fast, but handled very well. Got lots of attention even though they are cheaper Porsche's. Got rid of both because the risk of major failure scared me.
I would still like to have a 928S4 at some time in my life. My favorite Porsche is terms of looks.

Guy i know paid 280-320 bucks for an oil change on his Boxster S so yeah at the dealer it is expensive. I would find a older used 911 for the price you can probably get that boxter. Last 911 i actually drove was like a 89 but even then it was nice.
2012 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Sahara hard top..frickin loaded!
2010 Gt 5spd....WIFE's car.
any follow up from Adam on the car?
Found a decent mileage/price on carmax. Sports cars are getting crushed by the economy :(

here is some actual feedback from a cayman owner:
oil change, ~ 150-200 @ dealer every 15k miles
brake fluid flush, ~ 200 @ dealer every 15-30k / year or two
brake pads(front+rear) ~ 500-600 @ dealer every 20k-30k
brake rotors ~ 800-1000 @ dealer every 30-50k
clutch ~ 2500(?) @ dealer
tires ~ 1200-1800 (dep. on brand)
oil change you can do yourself for about 75 bucks and 30 minutes of your time
brake fluid flush is about 80 bucks or so + initial cost of getting a bleeder
my car has about 15k miles, tracked it once, brakes are far from needing replacement. rear tires needs replacement soon though, front maybe in another 6k miles. because Caymans run 265s in the rear, tires are a lot cheaper than 911s.
your mileage may vary. best of luck
