Adam, I'm not sure if the boxster is the same way as the air cooled 911s were, but my dad's 911 took 11 quarts of oil.
Also, if you take your car to the dealership - you're gonna get screwed price wise. A good porsche mechanic will know his worth and charge similar rates as the dealership.
My dad's never needed anything other than brakes, tires & oil changes - but that was an air cooled & I'm not sure if the new porsches do anything differently, but they're extremely reliable from his experiences (had 3 or 4 of them?). If something does go wrong, its very easy to get tangled up into a huge repair bill (even if its just parts). Its mid-engined too, so access isn't going to be very easy unless you own a lift is what I heard when the boxster first came out (may have changed since then).
Personally, I think that car is gorgeous & that is a beautiful color combo. I love the sahara(?) interior porsche does
