I have a 2004 F150 Supercab FX4 with the 5.4 3v in it, bought new and now has 140,000 miles on it. Roughly 80% of these miles are highway use.
Anyway, this thing is overdue for the plugs to be changed. Ford put 100k mile plugs in these things(?) and now the truck has developed a slight mis. I have read and heard nothing but horror stories concerning the removal of these plugs, as the plugs have a tendency to break in the heads during removal. There is a special Rotunda tool specifically for this application, so Ford knows it is a problem. Any of you guys that work in shops familiar with this problem? Has anybody ever done a plug change on one of these engines?
Thanks
