    Another big win today!!! :)

I can't believe that they once again could not put it in an empty net.... Every one of those points is precious...... I agree with the announcers.... both Crosby and Malkin had clear paths to the net... should have been a penalty shot into an empty net.... o well i guess.... I can't see anyway that Geno doesn't win the scoring title, but if somehow Ovechkin continues to have 4 point nights and Malkin has 1 point nights, and he looses the scoring title, its stupid open nets that will hurt....

So I've been under the weather for the past few days and haven't done much of anything but I figured I'd comment on the game.

I actually didn't get to see it. I hate early Saturday afternoon games because there is a possibility I might miss them due to work. Of course, this past Saturday was one of those situations. I did listen to it on the radio but that doesn't do the game any justice. I did watch all the goals and other highlights of the game though.

It was good to see Fedo have a great game. I knew he was a very capable player and a good acquisition for us, I was just waiting to see it pay off. He works hard all the time, always flying up and down the ice so it was good to see him walk away with a few points.

So how about that hit by Orr? It seems to be a point of discussion after the game. Did you agree or disagree with the call?

Stieny, I liked the call on Orr cause Eaton looked like he was defenseless to me. He was starting to go down, and it looked like it could of been a dangerous hit and Eaton was lucky to get away with only stiches.

I would of hated to see a guy like Mark Eaton get seriously hurt. He works hard and does all the little things you appreciate in a player in his role, espcially on this team.

I too missed the game but watched the reply on youtube. It was definitely one of the three if not all:
    1) Interference
    2) Roughing/Elbowing
    3) Unsportsmanlike/Leg sweep

    But a 5 min major .... I don't know?

The 5 minute major and game misconduct was apparently a new rule.... later in the broadcast they talked about it (someone must have done some research)... It was a new rule saying something about if you make no attempt to make a play on the buck and the player never makes a play on the puck, and you hit him in a vulnerable position, then its a 5 minute major/game misconduct for interference......

Something to that affect.... if i wasn't lazy, i'd look it up.... but... i am

    edit: Rule 56.5

Thats what I meant by defenseless. Orr made no attempt to let up, not that in any other circumstance he should. But Eaton was in a very vulnerable position looking to me like he was already going down.

I agreed with the call, and I know I would be agreeing with the same call if it were a role reversal as well.

This rule is just the league trying to protect its investments, and I think the rule is a good one. But thats just my opinion...

I agree 100% with the call...

And like many other rules in the league, its up to the discretion of the officials... and the officials need to be very precise on how they seperate one penalty from another, even though they may look the same to most people

The new rule does sound like a good addition. I'm just not sure if it applied in that situation. It looked like Eaton was going down after Orr committed to hitting him. It's got to be hard to try to stop your check when you're taught to finish through them.

I don't know. It looked a bit "ify" to me.

No doubt... we should be well rested, taking on a Devil's team that has lost 5 in a row... Gotta keep 'em on their heels

Anybody else watch the rangers wipe the floor with the devils the other night?

Shutout, allthough lundquist (sp?) is tough and always wins against Marty.

We scored 4 times against the rangers, this should be an interesting game tonight. I'm calling a hat trick for Gill. Go pens!!!!!!!!!!

Dang, are the Pens rolling or what? Talk about an unreal turnaround since the big shakeup. They remind me of the Redwings last year. The puck control and aggressive forechecking is fun to watch. I hope they can keep it going...cuz there's a long way to go until training camp opens at St. Vincent...

What a mess New Jersey is right now...I love how we piled on the goals and played hard until the very end. Never lift!!!!!

    Malkin for MVP!!!!!!

I love "Doc" Emerick the voice of the Devils. I cant wait untill the game of the week no matter who is playing so I can hear him call a game.

I was however disappointed to hear him think Ovechkin is his pick for MVP. I just dont understand the argument. Everyone says "you have to pick the goal scorer." To which I say, why? How does the fact that he shoots a rediculous amount of shots which leads to an obviously high amount of goals scored mean that he is the most valuable players to him team? Since when did the MVP award become an award for most goals scored by a player who does very little for his team outside of, well...scoring goals and acting like an ass? Sure he has fire and competes, but alot of guys have fire and compete. But because they dont taunt, or make an ass out of themselves on a regular basis you dont hear about them.

We as a group might be alittle biased, but Malkin is a complete player. Ovechkin is not. Malkin scores goals, works hard in both zones, has the ability to be a highlight real player, elevates his teams overall play, and doesnt act like a tool. How is this not a closer discussion among those with votes for MVP? The fact that he plays with Sidney Crosby should have no factor in the decision, but it does...its an award that is supposed to be for the most valuable player to his team. Malkin is the most valuable player to his team as a complete player period.

    Just venting alittle...

    Malkin for...MVP! MVP! MVP!

    Marty...Marty...Marty...lol
