i could also see this. the nhl is tryin its hardest to come back from the lockout. it was funny cause i told my cousin before the game, "we'll see how the refs are tonight" and sure enough they screwed with the game. i felt like they were doing this in the caps series to make it go to a game 7. im not gonna say its fixed, but it very well could be, especially from a league that needs a game 7.
anyway, hopefully they let this one simmer the next 2 days and come out playing like mad men on tuesday.
GO PENS!!!
I came to the same conclusion...that game HAD to be fixed. I've never seen such a lopsided example of officiating in ANY professional sport. I'm blown away that there hasn't really been a public outcry.

Come on John the game wasn't fixed, the pens thought it was going to be a easy win after putting the wings away in the last 2 games!
The Wings woke up there Ain't no tomorrow if they loose..
The pens on the other hand didn't have the killer instinct and got a lesson in play off hockey.
The score should have been 10 Zip.

I don't think the games are fixed. At least not by the knowledge of the players. Could the officials sway a game one way or the other ? Sure, but think of the consequences to the league if it was ever proven they colluded with officials to try to get the outcome they wanted. It would ruin the league. I think they would go under from lack of attendance. That's why I can't see them taking that chance just to get one or two more games played in the Cup series.
Some of you may not like or agree with what I'm going to say now, but I believe it strongly.
What Talbot did to Datsyuk undermines hockey as a credible sport. Knowing Datsyuk has a foot injury, Talbot slashed him on his foot. In my mind that is an intent to injure and should result in a fine and suspension. It's crap like that that keeps hockey as a distant 4th in major sports. In what other serious sport can you use a piece of equipment to try and injure another player and only end up with a 2 minute time out ?
Let a guy in baseball take a bat to someone and see if they aren't fined and suspended for a long time. How about stomping someone with a cleat in football ? Same thing.
IMO stuff like that undermines the sport. Makes it look bush league. I hope Mario has some words for Talbot, as he made the Pens organization look low class. There's a reason teams like Philly, who still adhere to the old goonery mentality, aren't seen in the finals too often.
I never really said the game was fixed, just the officials need new glasses or at least clean them?
The whole 10 to 0 is a little exageration considering Feds missed two open nets, on the same shift. Lol.
We failed to score on our pp early leading to an onslaught of det. pp's and charge of momentum. You really think any team in the NHL takes ANY game against the wings at home lightly?
Sadness.....
one win in detroit is all I ask...

You guys are crazy if you blame the refs at all for yesterdays game.
The Pens fell apart after a decent start and took horrible calls and basically lacked composure.
The Wings getting Datsyuk back was huge and I knew it would make a big impact on Detroit's line-up, he's big to them having a balanced 4-line attack.
I stand by prediction that the home team wins every game :)

it is hard to believe its fixed but after a game like that, cmon. im not going to say our game didnt collapse, but it was hands down the worst officiated game ive seen in recent memory.
Rule 52 Diving (NEW for 2005-06)
1. A minor penalty shall be imposed on a player who attempts to draw a penalty by his actions ("diving").
2. Regardless if a minor penalty for diving is called, Hockey Operations will review game videos and assess fines to players who dive or embellish a fall or a reaction, or who feign injury. (See also Rule 33A -- Supplementary Discipline.)
3. The first such incident will result in a warning letter being sent to the player, the second such incident will result in a $1,000 fine, the third such incident will result in a $2,000 fine and the fourth such incident will result in a one-game suspension. (See also Rule 33A -- Supplementary Discipline.)
Fair enough, I think it will be a Game 7 (because of a league fix :) ) and then you never know.
