anyone here do this for a living? or know anyone who does?
i know there is no real home security, other than the obvious...
but i am intersted in your experiences and prior dealings with any companies or personal experieces...

If someone wants in your house, they're getting in your house. You can, however, make it much more difficult for someone other than a 'professional' though.
Point in case: my neighbor's house is virtually a vault. It's been broken into twice - police said "gypsies" or some BS & let me tell you why its BS & why someone who knows what they're doing can get in.
Their house's external doors are 6" thick oak with 2" steel plates that drop into the ground when they're closed. The door to get in/out of the garage is the same story.
Every external window is stained glass with 1" thick iron latticework so you can't just break in and climb through.
They have a very good camera set up that covers just about the whole house that was installed after their house was broken into the first time. The second time they installed motion activated lights throughout the house because the broke in at night & they couldn't be seen on the cameras because it was dark. Now they can see everything that's going on in the house.
They have a very good alarm & response system.
They have firearms in secure and hidden locations throughout the house.
If someone can rob them twice, I can't think of much more that can be done. They don't have an attack trained dog though.
well sounds like their home security system cost more than my house lol...
just curious what other have and what others have done to secure their homes better?
long story short found foot prints in the snow walking from my front door, to my basement door, around back to underneath the house...
i have exhausted every ave. from calling the power company, to calling the ins. company...no one was there who would be "ok" to be there...whoever it was made sure to walk in their own footprints to not make extra tracks...or maybe to just keep their feet dry as possible lol...
just a little uneasy of a feeling, thats all...and no ups does not do that when they deliver packages...they walk from the main road to the front door and leave whatever they have lol
trust me i have thought of everything, no one should be walking behind my house like they were...
Set booby traps... explosion's...bear traps...... um getan AR-15 in the window... a Huntign motion camera!!! atleast get the criminal in a pic..

^that's pretty damn scary to find something like that at your house. buy some shotgun shells and put them in plain view in that window lol
seriously though, good luck with whatever route you want to take. And if they're in your house, make sure you shoot them in the chest (not the back) in a manner that would not be conducive to their presence in court ;)

How about a dog? If you can handle a dog and have time to take care of it, nothing makes a better home security system than a Rottweiler/Doberman/Shepherd/Pitbull/Akita ect. Most would be intruders leave as soon as they see/hear the dog.
