online photography shopping rant

OK so as some of you guys know I'm selling my camera for an upgrade. Well I've been looking around and the camera (body only, no lenses etc.) I want retails for $1100.

let me tell you what, every freaking "store" that I looked into buying from all turned out to be scams - sorta. They will sell you the camera for just $300, but only if you buy a $10 memory card for $250, and a $20 tripod for $500 and a backup battery for $150. Its so ****ing annoying. And these are sites that come up on price finding searches etc. & on top of that, they're listed as featured sellers and secure and all kinds of other BS

every single store listed is a scam aside from amazon, and the amazon price is for a used one is still one of the stores that have scam reviews. ****ing unreal. Ebay is the same shit! You get a mad tyte JDM camera that will most likely have problems with the autofocus on usdm lenses or it's refurbished & sold as new. unbe****ingleavable.


I guess today I learned that if a deal looks too good to be true - it is. that and stay away from stores located in Brooklyn, NY

Check out abesofmaine.com. I bought my Pentax K200d and my wife's GPS there and the price was very good. They were also a recommended on line store in the December Consumer Reports. They are actually located in New Jersey I think. They will call you however and try to sell you more stuff after you place the order.

he said that if I wanted to look for some used lenses, he'd recommend KEH - but just to be wary because he feels like they overrate the quality of them a bit. If it looks visibly abused, it's probably lived a tougher life. He wasn't sure of the return policy they have though, but he thought he recalled that they'd give you a bit of time to test it out & see.

I have also heard good things about Abe's.

I used http://www.calumetphoto.com for my DSLR and lenses and have been very happy. One thing I learned is that if they list something as too cheap to be true it probably is.
