    Blow thru carb turbo setup?

Since I only have motor done at the short block. I little thought got bigger and I'm thinking of yanking the pistons for something with lower compression and boost friendly.

So I'm wondering who makes a good blow thru carb? This is all just a big evil thought but I wanna look at all my options before finishing off this motor.

LOTS of info on blow though carbs over on turbomustangs.com. Did a ton of research on this setup, and will probably do it as money allows.

Joe Laramee Has a 2.3 turbo Pinto in the mid 9s with a blow through, he appears to have the Turbo/Carb figured out. Also Joe is a excellent head porter.

I wonder why people do it like this??, Is it to avoid the wiring and electronic crap. I have thought of doing this many times but... i cant wrap my head around the fact i will not 110% control of the fuel like a efi will give.. just a thought..
2015 A6 Mustang GT that so far has gone 9.48@147 but still the fastest prochargerd S550 in the world aside from Tim Essick's!

At full throttle the ECU if I'm not mistaken the ECU is in open loop and doesn't control anything same as Alpha N.

Joe is using a Electromotive Ign control..

To some extent, yes, Most of the guys that start out doing blow through are not really electrical wizards ;) That said, I've seen air / fuel curves from them that are much better than EFI applications even and you can easily tune it on the track, and for street driving, just like you tune any carb system. Just dont loose sight of the carb NEEDING to be one from one of the guys that understand blow through.

At what point do you want better / different control? Under part throttle / vacuum applications, it's a carbed car so it "is what a carbed car is" as far as tuning. The sweet part about the new carbs designed for blow through, is that everything is referenced, so even under boost, they "think" they are at atmosphere (oversimplified, but the point none the less).

Exactly, a EFI computer ignores so much under WOT that a carb likely has MORE feedback than a lot of EFI systems. This is why we see cars coming from all these "tuners" that put down dyno numbers, but drive like ass. It's easy to tune either set-up (blow through carb or EFI) under full boost, it's a steady state, and really a load versus RPM table. The carb set-up can be easier to get right under part throttle because it's just carb tuning stuff. On an EFI set-up all of the sensor start to come into play, and that's what seperates the parts changers from the real tuners.

Of course i'm just some hillbilly, so take what I say for what you paid for it ;)

I've done a few blow thru set ups in the past. It is trying at points to get the carb a/f ratio to work just right. There are carb guys like pro systems that can flat out make it work perfect! They have alot of research into it and their stuff just works.
