Nothing wrong with 96-98's other than they are slow as hell but hey atleast they sound good and make good torque :-D

All depends on what you're looking for. I'd buy a 96-98 100x over again for a fun DD. They sound good, get good MPG for a V8, and they are fun.

If you are making a track car, get something with a pushrod engine, a lot cheaper to mod in the long run.

The 94-95 GT's were weak as well but since they have the 5.0 it isn't too hard to get them running "right".

    ^^^^86-92 motors(v8) were 225hp, and the 93-95 gt's were only 215hp. and i think i read somewhere the 96-98 gt's were only 195hp.

take your time and buy what your looking for,not just something that pops out at you. yea you might find a cheap fox or mod car that needs some tlc(as most put it) but by the time you invest in fixing everything and modding it the way you want, you may have more in it. i dunno,it's just my .02 though

I'm pretty sure the 96 to 98 was 225 hp with no pi heads. They called it the red headed step child since it was the first for the 4.6 nobody liked the mod motor and the non-pi heads suck. But you can get some pi heads and then that's the best gt imo.

yes pi heads and intake conversion will definatly wake up that tired mod motor. another thing to look at on 96+ stangs is to make sure the intake has the aluminum crossover cooliant tube in the front. stock one was plastic and they break/crack easily.

does a supercharger really wake up a motor like a 98 and does it hurt the life of the engine and can you keep stock injectors in there with one. also can a car in Pa pass inspection with the battery in the trunk

yes a battery in the trunk will pass as long as it has proper hold downs. if you supercharge youll wanna upgrade injectors to get the full potentail (spelling) it should not hurt your motor if your running 6-8 psi

Thats why the fmu is on the car, the injector duty cycle is about maxed but it works. Kind of a band aid till you get 30# or whatever injector you wanna run. For crusing and sometimes wot it should be just fine.
