Arrow TV guys help me figure out whats wrong

at my house we have a samsung rear projection HDTV...we've had it for maybe 3 years now. about 6 months ago it developed this little white spot out of nowhere and it stays on the screen all the time no matter what you are watching. doesnt move or anything and its bright white. its very small but so annoying knowing it's there. what is causing this?

ive had someone tell me that it means the bulb is going bad (on a rear projection tv you have to change the bulb a few times, but not often). I figured if that was the case, it would have gotten worse by now, but its been the same for about 6 months maybe more

rhino i dunno if its plasma or not, but the plasma screens are comprised of millions of tiny bulbs, which burn out over time, usually leaving little black spots, but I dunno...if its plasma I would look into it, LCD then im not quite sure buddy.

its rear projection looks as thought here is a spot on the inside of the screen most likely a pin hole could be caused by a bug or flaw in the screen. DIDn't you guys get it at voss? call them it could be fixed for nothing if in fact the screen is flawed. A bug can get into the backs and crawl around maybe bite it too

havent called a professional yet but will probably end up doing that real soon.

And clark, its not a plasma, its a DLP TV which is made up of thousands of those tiny mirrors.

I was doing some reading, either its dirty back there on the light engine part of it, which consists of the bulb, color wheel, and some other things

or one of those tiny mirrors is stuck open.. Also read that if that is the case, then the entire mirror assembly thing needs replaced which is expensive. kinda sucks.

anyone else ever run into this problem?

Unscrew all the screws on the back side, the ones that go around the out side of the tv. Think there is like 16 or more. The front screen will come off or slide out. KEEP it facing the same way it came out so it goes back in the same way. Clean them and the mirrors in it with a micro fiber towel and auto glass cleaner. NO ammonia in it, It streaks. Put it all back together and see if that does it. OH while you have it out, pull the bulb out and do not touch it! if you do, clean it with alcohol or it will blow. Blow the fans out from all the dust so it can keep the bulb cool.. Good luck with it..

NO, it's a DLP TV, they don't make them any more.. Flat screens don't get hardly one pixel that goes bad, it normally one row that goes. (the line from side to side or top to bottom.)

The DMD (Digital Micromirror Device) is the actual chip itself and sounds like it went bad. It contains roughly 921,600 micro-mirrors that make up the picture on the TV.

Take a quick look around the net and see if they have a recall.

thats exactly what ive been reading ill have to check about the recalls cause apparently there are a LOT of samsung dlp owners who have this problem and from other pictures ive been seeing, i am very fortunate to have only one small spot. I see a lot of people that have many more dots than me!

Theres just a big mirror back there. I had a Mitsubishi that was getting all these red and green splotches all over and it ended up being the light engine (it was DLP also). I would open it up, carefully remove the mirror and look for anything on the back side of the screen.
