    Hood questions

What would it take to make a 87-93 hood fit a 86 GT? I've found the hood i want to buy but cervinis says it will not fit an 86. It's is the 03/04 cobra style (heat extractor) hood if that matters. So, can it be done?

It's easy, rip off everything of the four eye nose, strip out it's soul by aero nosing it, then bolt the hood on ;)

lol So what you're saying is there's no way for it to have that hood AND it's soul?

Seriously, it's your car, do as you like. If you don't get that converting the front from 4 eye to aero nose to put a new edge style hood on the car is giving up the soul of the car, then I'm not sure not going to say anything to change your mind.

I have nothing against the aero nose cars either, IMO they just dont have the personality of the four eyes. Maybe they are just special to those of us that grew up with them. Post up when you do it, those of us that love the four eyes for what they are will drink a toast to another lost soul.

NO NO NO! I think we have a misunderstanding!!!!!!! I LOVE THE 4 EYED PERSONALITY! i'm trying to figure out if there is a way to fab the HOOD and make it fit NOT the nose of the car! if i wanted a aero nose car, i would have bought one!

I like that hood, but i think the heat extractor would be cool if i could custom fit it because you wouldn't see another four eye with it.

The problem with the aero hoods is that they drop off from the fender edge into the nose. Anything is possible, but it's likely going to take two hoods to make one. Even at that, there will be a mold line at the front edge that is probably sooner or later going to show up as they would need bonded somewher ein there. There are some GREAT glass guys around, but none of them are cheap. I can get you in touch with one of the best if you are serious and willing to do make one at any cost.

Do you need clearance? Besdie cowls and mach 1 hoods there arent a lot of choices to keep the four eye header. It's just part of the price we pay to look this stylish ;)

There are OEM options you could consider. You know that all of the Capri's came with a "heat extractor" hood in some fashion :D Way ahead of their time ;) This is refered to as the Capri Bulge (79-82)

In addition to the "bulge" there are the turbo scoops that will go onto your stock hood, the GT lumps, etc. Some options if you are just looking to change things up a bit.

BTW - I hated the hood grilles, they let water in that made a mess under the hood.

Heck, I don't know either, but suspect you will need the cost of the aero hood, cost of a four eye glass hood for the structure, and best geuss double those costs to make it right, so what, 4x the cost of a bolt on glass hood??

if the front is the only thing that is different, how come i can't measure, cut and sand it to fit?
