Editing my previous post to now be accurate, as economic conditions have forced some changes in the payouts. Changes are in bold.

Still a lot to race for! C'mon out!

There's a lot of cash out there to be won again this year..

Top and Mod will each continue to pay out $800 to win, thanks to the Pittsburgh Raceway Park guarantee.

Points are 2 points to stage, 2 points for first round win, 1 point second round win on up, 1 bonus point to each class winner.

This, I really like... 15 points days, the best 12 will be used, no more points pass. Go on vacation from weekend to weekend, and if those 2 Saturdays are points days, they get dropped. Got a wedding, family reunion, picnic, etc, on a points day? No problem, that zero points day gets dropped. And, there will be points make up days, just like last year, in case Mother Nature doesn't cooperate on a points day.

The points payout structure has changed back to the 2007 levels. Top and Mod each pay $2000 to the points winners, Street and Bike pay $1000 to the points winners.

Chuck - did you get any clarification on this...........

Anyone who has already signed up for the points and would like a full refund, we will do so willingly. We will also hand out a partial refund on the entry fee should you decide to stay with us in our new points program. Refunds available until May 30, 2009.

The buy in for points was basically the same as a race day, did they drop that too? And to what?

I still have not signed up, and wasnt going to becasue of the ugly stickers this year ;) If it's lower cost, I might as well.

Bob you don't have to put those stickers on your car. I never do unless I race in the bracket finals

Bob, I'm not sure yet what that means. I've already signed up for Street points at $45, and I'm wondering if that means there's a refund from that coming? My 2 cents, if you're going to be there for most of the points events (real nice deal taking best 12 of the 15 points days), might as well sign up. Everyone can get on a hot streak. I'm not a fan of the color of the stickers either, but it's cool they say back to back track champs.

I was joking about the stickers (although they are an ugly ass color :D) Wifey signed me up for street today, I'm 99% sure it was $40.00 buy in so if that's right you should have $5.00 coming back. I swore last years points buy in was the same as the cost of a race day??

I wouldnt count on me getting on a hot streak although I had a little glimmer of hope last year with a few good races in a row. I'm already out for next Saturday as I'm going to run the UMTR race at QCR but will try for Sunday.

I don't think we talked about burnouts much...

A lot of people think "more smoke = more sticky" and that's not the case, ESPECIALLY with a regular street tire. If you heat regular street tires up too much, you will actually do the opposite of what you want... the heat glazes the tire over, and you will lose traction. Just 2-3 seconds to clean the water and any debris off the tires is all that's needed. For race tires, follow the manufacturer's recommendation, and adjust as needed. For example, Mickey Thompson's site recommends that the first burnout of the day be the hardest, and that light burnouts after that should be sufficient. Avoid doing the John Force burnouts, and you'll hook better, improve tire life, and reduce the pounding the car is taking.
