    Paul's Chrome Plating in Mars?

I bought a used set of chrome wheels, 3 of them are perfect, and the 4th needs rechromed. I found on google a place called Paul's Chrome Plating in Mars, Pa. Anybody have any experience with them or heard anything good/bad about them? Also if anybody has had any work done by them, how expensive were they?

Paul's Chrome does some nice work, not sure what kind of pricing they have though.

I think Mike (map351) has used them. I know he has plating done a couple of places.

thanks, I'll send him a pm and see what he has to tell me. I'm guessing that having this one wheel rechromed will be less than buying a new one ($340 + shipping)

they do excellent work-but very expensive.

whoa, thats a bit steep. Any other places around that are more reasonable? The wheel is in good shape, the chrome just peeled off when the old stick on wheel weight was removed from the previous owner.

edit, I see they do restoration of the parts when needed before plating... did your dad's parts need repair first? my job would be basically strip and rechrome.

no but they are one of the only places local with tubs large enough to do the long mouldings.

we heard nothing but great things about thier work, just be prepared to open up the wallet.
just give them a call and see what they tell you cost wise

If its more than $200ish you'd probably be better off getting a new one I'd think.
But I wanted to subscribe to see what they'd charge.

Yea, $200-225 is what I had in mind. Map351 said he thinks Paul's will charge around $400 a wheel, which is WAY more than I want to spend. I found a place where I can get a brand new wheel for $325.

Either way, I have a couple numbers to call tomorrow from vendors I saw at world of wheels and a couple from Map351. If I can get it done for $225 or less, it would be worth the money saved compared to a brand new wheel. I'll update this thread with whatever prices I get, for peoples' future reference on here.

Paul's is expensive. His chrome seems to have a blueish tint to it. You may want to look into Bill's Plating in Jeanette. He did some parts for my cousin's 66 Hemi Belvedere and a few parts on my Dad's Desoto.

Ed's got a good point, might be tough to match the factory job.

Yea I hadn't even thought of that. I guess I figured all chrome had the same look. I might end up having to buy a new wheel and sell this one for cheap.

Thanks Ed. My manager at work recommended a guy in Russellton to me too, so I'll have a few people to call now for some pricing

Paul's is out, I don't care how good the quality is, $400 is out of the question, lol.

No problem. Prepare yourself for most quotes to be in that price range though. You can thank the EPA for the prices you're going to get. 9 times out of 10 it is just cheaper to buy a new wheel as opposed to having one re-chromed.
