If you ever get the to see these cars race, do it! It's kind of like seeing a T/F car for the first time. You can try to describe it verbally but, until you're at the track & feel the sensations you can't fully appreciate these cars. You've never seen anything accelerate, brake & corner like these things. Their 2.4 liter motors can make 750 hp & the only weigh 1330# with driver & fuel. The can pull 5.5 g's in braking & do 0 to 62 mph in 1.9s, 0-186 in 8.4 seconds. Sorry to ramble.

you would think that kind of heat would reak havok on a set of pistons, i read their pistons are made by mahle , I noticed under a stock 4.6 piston in had mahle stamped in it, those factory mahle piston sure dont hold up like those formula 1 pistons for some reason. haha
2015 A6 Mustang GT that so far has gone 9.48@147 but still the fastest prochargerd S550 in the world aside from Tim Essick's!

    Joe,

I think the only time they touch the clutch is at the start. They are equipped with a 7-speed sequential transmission that does the shifting in 250 milli-seconds. They simply hit the up & down shift paddles located on the steering wheel. The technology of the cars is staggering. I forgot to mention a two-car team spends like 300 million a year. The in-car video moves so fast it looks like a video game.
