Fat heads is cool but I prefer a more relaxed restaurant atmosphere myself.
Yep Penn and their landlord worked out a deal. There was a lot of positioning going on with that deal.
Landlord - We got them by the balls let jack the lease up!
Penn - F'em I'll publicly look for a new location even though I really can't move because this building is our whole image!

Glad that place turned out good...
Here it is before it was built :)
I cut the pathway in on that D5G dozer, and did the grade on the bottom, along with me working in the Red/white linkbelt digging out concrete for the place :)
I have more photo's of the ground work before hand... including pictures of inside the old Pump house! I need to get down there and check it out, I havent been there since it opened.

Have you ever had a true German Weissen? How does theirs compare? Every time I'm in Germany I bring home two 5 liter kegs of Maisels plus a few bottles. I need another trip soon ;)
My absolute favorite Belgian is Palm. Good drinking and will mess you up bad. I only get into the Neatherlands on rare occasion to get it, and that's the only place I find it.
... There are plenty of places that sell good beer in the Burgh. I bought a case of Dog Fish Head Fort 18% this December at Vencenie's. They are a direct distributor for several US micro brewery's and always have a great collection of seasonal beers in stock at GREAT prices.
Never had? I guess I have to sip on one the next time I'm at the Sharper Edge. You ever have a Pirat or Kasteel XX? Those are my two favorite Belgians.
... today I was in Jamestown NY visiting a client who knows I'm a beer nut. He started telling me about their local grocery store Wegman's, had a new beer selection that would knock my socks off. I chuckled and went to check it out ... HOLY COW to my dismay they had a awesome collection! I picked up a couple of pints of Lindeman's Lambic Framboise for $8.00 a bottle! You would pay more than that for a glass at Sharper Edge or Rolands. My old lady is so pumped ... she loves this stuff! It's like drinking Raspberry ecstasy!
Not that this means anything or either one of you care, but I took a tour of Stoudt's in Adamstown, PA in April. The owner, Ed Stoudt gave the tour. He was like the nutty professor. 70 years old and seemed to know his stuff. He was a real stickler when it came to imports. He said we should all buy local for the best beer. Then, he went on to explain that (what we call imports) the beer from Europe and the mother country tastes great. He said he's been there to judge for competitions. What screws the beer up is the traveling. He said many times, "Beer doesn't liked to be moved around!!!"
He was nuts, but it made sense. Anyway, the HB stuff was OK. I guess that's what made it good to me. The taste wasn't over the top and it didn't suck. I was just real good and real smooth. I will go back.
My last name is 2 letters off Munich ??? It's in my blood.

YUM .... Stoubt's IPA = Mother's Milk! They brew some great beers! I'll bet the facility tour was pretty cool!
I agree we are very fortunate because we have some of the absolute best micro brewery's around us, like Stoubts, Victory and Troegs! Yes beer doesn't like movement but even the Belgians say their beer taste better in the states because of the aging that accuser during shipping. High alcohol content beer is like a fine wine or Bourbon, it gets better with age if it's kept in cool dark places like docks, ships and warehouses.
All this beer talk is making my lips smack ... I think its time for a cold one!
My cousin lives in Lancaster. It was a toss-up between Stoudt's and Troegs. Victory is only an hour away, too. I like the lighter stuff myself. I'm a pilsner guy. I like, er I mean LOOVEEE Victory Prima Pils. Dunbar Distributing (yeah sometimes it's good to be a hillbilly) sells a Victory variety case for $25-$27??? something.

Most of my favorite beers are made in Fall and Winter so I usually stock up then. I think I've still got a few Mad Elves left . Sadly all of my Screaming Pumpkin is long gone .

This thread is making me thirsty. :D
Lots of good leads in here, thanks guys!
I think that is probably true of beer that goes through normal distribution. That's why I carry my own home :D That, and i think they add further preservatives to "export" shipements.
Some of the best I've had have been at simple beir gardens and small breweries all over Germany. Never bottled, no chance for export, they just make the best beer they can from old family recipes and drink it :D
Want to try something strange, try the smoked beer from Bamburgh. First taste is terrible, then the offending tastebuds are killed and it gets better.
