    tach help please!

ok so i got a tach off of my budy a couple weeks ago and i needed a tach driver for it to work. john4cam hooked me up with an MSD tach driver and i finished hookin it up before i came to work today and its STILLLLLL not working correctly! im getting really frustrated with this thing and i dont know why its not working! so heres how i have it hooked up.... i have the driver wire tapped into a wire in a little black box with a bolt going through it in the upper left hand corner( i read this on a forum and he said it worked) it is a red wire supposedly a 12v + for the coil. the ground for it is on the firewall...the grey wire for the tach is obviously wired into the green tach wire... i tapped the hot wire for the driver into the one for the tach and then into the fuze box under the dash and the ground for the tach on a grounding bolt on the inside of the car.... if i turn the knob to set the shift light all the way to Zero the light comes on so i know it is getting power but the needle does move so its not reading the rpms! does anybody have a tach on an 02 gt or know what im doing wrong and can help me out? please! everything with this car has been going wrong for me! thanks!
