    Exclamation 1981 Ford F150 --- suggestions / problems ?

    So, I got a line on a beater dd / weekend honey-do truck. 1981 Ford F150, reg cab, short bed, 4WD, inline-6 300ci, 5-speed.

I'm told the engine is a Jasper remanufactured with about 1,500 miles on it. The body might be 208,000 or 308,000 ??? New tires, jackman wheels, brakes, shocks, all fluids changed in tranny and rear-ends, new power-steering pump, new clutch and throwout bearing, some surface rust on the quarters --- nothing major.

It's a hella deal as far as price. It's freaking two-tone brown and lighter brown. and Wifey DOES NOT want it sitting in the driveway (even though she wants mulch, trees, a new coffee table, 10 years of sh1t from the basement taken to the dump).

I can get over the color and Wifey, but is there anything else I should know or watch out for with this model?

If you got that, what the hell more do you want? I could use some tips ;)(besides alcohol, been trying that)

Seriously, is it manual hubs? Check them out,the Ford Warns liked to sieze up in that era. Those are typically pretty rusty, so if it's showing would likely go quick but for a beater it might not matter. Cab mounts should be checked close, the rest is easy.

Truebedat on the running forever. I worked for a company that had the inline six E150 van and it had 180,000 miles on it and it was still running.
