I think staal needs to go. Can someone tell me what he has other than reach, power play killing??? His moves are slow enough for me to cover him, constantly misses open nets and the list goes on and on...

You guys are nuts!!! Yes, Staal is struggling this year but remember he's only 20 freaking years old and playing in his 3rd NHL year!

He's the only forward we have that actually has SIZE! When he completely develops into a MAN he has the potential of being a 6'4" 225-235lbs stud power forward!

And Crosby's been in the league for 4 years. What's your point?

Crosby has talent, Staal doesn't. At least not enough to justify keeping him when we can get more productive players for him.

Lets face it, the hockey talent in that family went to the other Staal brothers.

If you're expecting Staal to be another Crosby you're going to be VERY disappointed ... there's only a handful that can play at that level.

My point is ..... You need more than a roster of fast high scoring players to be successful in the game of hockey, just look at the Devils. There are rolls that need to be filled to be a complete team and Staal can be a very competent 2nd/3rd line power forward much like Malone was.

Yes he's having a tough year but he still had over 30 points and we're only paying him 3 million a year.

    Be patient grasshopper ......

i agree, hes still very young, the youngest of the staals in the nhl. i also feel hes under utilized for what he can bring. if he doesnt get moved to 1 2 they have to keep him with tk and cooke cause they work well together. i see him being a solid player for years, once he gets more size and plays more like a big man and not a finesse player.

I don't expect him to play at Crosby's level. Its just a comparison to show that age isn't everything. If a player is not great young, does not necessarily mean he will grow into a great player. It's just a waste to keep sitting on him, hoping he will become a good player while we keep watching him make the same mistakes over and over again.

Eh, to each their own. I don't see him doing anything special in the future. He is way overrated. I would have loved to see us keep Malone and get rid of Staal instead.

Yeah a 6'4 235Lb sissy, he never finishes anybody off. Believe me we could easily replace him.

As far as being young goes look at all the young guys that play hard and physical and contribute. Cookie's anly 23, letang's what 22? Malkin, crosby,Thomas, Kennedy. Staals way to inconsistant.

Again he just turned 20 years old in September and just needs to mature and gain a little confidence.

... YES ... he pisses me off at times but you need to be patient with young players and help them develop. If he's not playing at his potential by the end of next year, I think you guys will get your wish. Or unless something big happens before the trade deadline??
