thank god. they wanted to fire him last year, they just couldnt justify it because of how far they went.

It will be interesting to see what happens in the last 25 games. Something needed to change. Hopefully this will pull us in the right direction. Not to mention that it has been rumored that the players and Therrien didn't get along that well anyways.

I'm sorta undecided on this.... I didn't agree with Therrien's system a whole lot, but I think coaches get too much of the glory for a winning team, and too much of the blame for a loosing team......
I really wished we didn't play so conservative defensively - but i see our conservatism as a lack of confidence in our goalie to make stops when that aggresive defense bites you a couple of times per game....

I just hope it lights a fire under the player's asses - this is a guy that was 2 games from the stanley cup last year, and two years ago was in the runnign for coach of the year.... It should tell all the guys on the team (with exception of Geno and Crosby) that their jobs are on the line.... In the end, i think it comes down to the players, and how much heart they have..... If the will is there, they will make the playoffs

I'm not a fan of Therrien nor are many of the players from what I've heard. His tyrant style of coaching is effective with young players, apparent from his success last year and in his time with Wilkes-Barre but I think his act got a little old with this more mature team.

Despite feeling like Therrien was the escape goat I still feel this team is missing chemistry that only "grinder" type players can bring. Cookie, Smith and Luca have been doing a good job the last few games but need 2nd tier guys to step it up too!

I hope this move does something to get our team on the winning path .... I hate watching the playoffs with out the Pens!

I'm pissed about this 2:00 game....

There's no way I can resist looking for the score throughout the day, and once i know the score, there's no point in watching.... it takes away all the suspense.... although, i might have my g/f DVR it so i can see all the goals....

I'm in the same boat: class until 4:50. But I'm DVR'ing it and not looking at these pages or the internet until I watch the game.

I WILL make it a point to watch the game fresh!

I heard if they dont win the next few games the Zamboni driver will get fired. After all its not the players so maybe its the ice?

Well I'm sure blame is being put on the players as well. But lets face it, in sports, if a team doesn't win the coach is going to take the fall.

I'm sorry, but with a team that has two of the top point leaders in the NHL, we should be better than two games over 500.
