Has this ever happened to anyone?

I had a neighbor yell at me last summer when I was pulling into my driveway. She came down (SCREAMING) from her garden saying "YOU KNOW, THE SPEED LIMIT IS 15MPH HERE!!!! I'VE SEEN PEOPLE KILLED ON THIS STREET!!!!"

So I replied "Do YOU know...sound does not indicate speed, I can't make a 90 degree turn into my garage going 15mph, and I doubt I go faster than 15 between stop signs since there is one on EVERY block."

She just got all flustered and walked back up to her garden.

but, I will admit my car is a bit on the loud side when driving through a suburban neighborhood, but I'm not saying I think that's a bad thing

IF my mom counts, then yeah..She complains that the neighbors are going to complain, but they are pretty cool so no problems yet!

Back when I lived with my parents there was a guy up the street from us. He was a fireman and some of them get that mixed up with police officers. I would always go past his house with stop signs every block like you said. I would always obey the speed limit (25). One day I was at a local club he's a member of and he said man I looked out my window figuring you were doing 50 and you were only putting. So yeah I think people automatically think speed if somethings loud and looks nice.

She sees me shifting gears and she is like why do you shift but your not really accelerating and I said well I keep the revs were I want them and I dropped it into 1st and accelerated to like 30mph and she was like aaah!! thats scary!! and I am amused about how girls translate sound into speed.

Some of my neighbors look at me with an evil glare in there eye when i go down the street....So when they do i just rev it and let them hear how it really sounds.

Yeah. Neighbors like you suck.... seriously how about some respect for the people that live around you? Especially if you have a loud stereo that you can turn down. You can't turn your exhaust down but certainly can keep you stereo down until you are out of the neighborhood.

I know the development i live in now, everybody thinks they have millions of dollars and are high society (hardly considering we have one of the nicest houses) and we are far from millionaires.

Anyways i was doing 35mph (speed limit) and this guy was on the other side of the road with his family and dog (without a leash) and i kept over on my side almost in the grass, and the guy screamed SLOW THE **** DOWN!! as i went by.. so i slammed on the breaks (100 or so feet away) and got out and asked if he had a problem and he was looking at me and just turned around and kept walking... (pretty sad because im scrawny) lol

i live in a plan that everybody thinks they own the whole place... a couple of them say i wake there kids up and tell me to slow down when i go exactly the speed limit! but they fly down the road and the one guy has a truck as loud as my car and leaves for work at like 12 at night! but nobody says anything to them! i"m not doing anything wrong so i just ignore it!

Yeah, that's where one day I plan on movin too, I like it out in the boonies. Just for that soul reason, peacefulness!
I was just sayin if someone has nothin better to do than bitch about loud racket or noises with close neighbors, than thats were they should be.
Then u won't have to worry about'em disturbin the peace with there mouth runnin about issues that shouldn't be an issue in the middle of a beautiful day. This whole worlds gone crazy! I'd like to of did a freakin burnout the second she walked in the door, right in front of her house!!

haha, my neighbor walked over and told me all about his police run-ins & all kinds of funny stories when he bought his GT500 back in the day. His son had a rio red 95 cobra and has a roush 427r now.

The only looks I really get are from the guy with the murdered out c6 z06 though. I think he's trying to figure out if its fast or if its just loud lol

FWIW, not pissing the neighbors off was one of a few reasons why I put cats on my car.

And as for that lady coming over to my house and telling me that my car was waking up her narcaleptic grandson i would tell her to get back in her own yard.

When i first moved into my house i was messing with my car in the driveway for awhile and making some noise my new neighbor walked over and said "you arent going to make alot of friends making all that noise" so i looked up at him and said " well its a good thing i didnt buy this house to make any new friends"....hes cool with me now that i assembled all his kids christmas bikes, train sets, and fixed his lawn mower!!!

Eh, there's two sides to every story. I really can't see a legitimate beef with someone's exhaust unless they're coming home late at night/early in the morning or have some full out drag car. I used to ask my neighbors if my 5.0 bothered them since the exhaust was kind of loud with dumped flows...all of my neighbors were always cool about it. If it was late when I was coming home with it I'd take it as easy as possible so as to not bother people.

Blasting your stereo in your car loud enough to bother your neighbors is pretty ****ing stupid though. Anyone not a teenager driving around with a system cranked up so loud their neighbors complain is probably both a dork and a tool.

So my 150db system made me a dork. Cool!! Well at least mine played music. Some of the big compitition cars only play one note for 2 seconds.

BTW I have no clue how a teenager could afford that stuff anyhow.

I am guilty of this myself. Thankfully most of my nieghbours are family or close firends. I only had one person come and complain about the noise and it was because of a loud stereo of some kid that stopped by. They have never complained about the loud cars, late night tools or test runs or the countless smoke shows the whole way down the street :D allot of it has to do with where you live too I guess?

Well, I did say "probably" so there's a slim chance your not a dork or a tool. Besides, having a powerful system is one thing, blasting it down your block so loud it wakes your neighbors is something else completely.

I used to live in a neighborhood where the dude's blasing G-Unit in their big wheeled Intrepids were very likely to be armed and dangerous, and where white suburban kids wouldn't dare to drive at night let alone drive through playing loud music. After I moved out to the 'burbs, I couldn't help but notice all the dorky North Hills white kids blasting rap and looking stupid out here (and knowing that in my old neighborhood, there stereo would be turned down/off and they'd be nervously staring straigt ahead), so maybe I'm biased.
