I don't think anybody is going to hell for eating meat on Friday.

The key is, Lent is not mentioned anywhere in the Bible. The Catholics made it up. Not that it's a bad thing. Since Satan tested Jesus for 40 days in the desert and then Jesus died for ALL of our sins, the Catholic church decided it would be a neat idea to suffer ourselves and give something up for the 40 days preceding Easter. Not a bad idea, but those crazy Catholics get all caught up in the symbolism and forget about the true meaning sometimes.

X2 I was raised Catholic, and some people in my family don't like some of things I now realize. Fasting is good and Biblical. However not eating meat on Friday if you like fish anyway is insignificant. That being said Catholics and Protestants have the same basic core beliefs and need to stand together ecspecially now.

Right on man, thats the way I see it too. If making it upstairs involves going into a building every sunday to sit beside the guy who beats his wife, the woman who is banging the mail man while hubby is at work and all the other people who go there just to try and make themselves feel better about their ****ed up ways makes me qualified to get in im not interested. I follow the theory of treating others as I would like to be treated. If thats not good enough I guess im headin for the big barbeque. This world would be so much better off without religon, most every problem we have in this world stems back to religon.

thats what i think too, while i think theres a god, everyone's got their own opinions about how it all works. I think just being a decent person is the way to go about your life. so if it all just operates on opinion i have one myself and it seems to fit me quite well.

the way i see is, if you ask the amish im sure they will tell you all of us are doing it completely wrong and we're all going to hell. its nothing but a persons perspective .

I'm giving up my old wheels and tires for some new ones, and I had to give up my coil springs and front a-arms for coilovers and tubular arms, and a few other things. It's gonna be tough, but I think if I try hard, I can get through it.
