What are you giving up for lent?

Call me crazy but...Say the day comes and you are before God at the gates. He opens the book of your file, yes that big book with everything you every did. (It even lists all the little kitties you killed off.) He is standing there scratching his chin while he reads and looks everything over. "Well it says here you saved 4 childeren from a burning building, you never drank bla bla bla" He turns around to open the gates and then stops... "Oh no no no... Well I was going to let you in but I see here that you ate meat on Friday Feb 27th". Then he pushes the big red button.

Is that how it works? I just dont get.

Does that mean that God is an accountant?

I absolutely love lent, I have never seen so much buy one get one free steak at Giant Eagle. I have been eating steak every night for like 2 weeks now.

Wow this is some interesting reading. I haven't checked this thread since it was started. I guess I'll post my opinion about lent and religon. I think of lent as a time to look back on the past year and decide how I would like to improve in the way I lead my life. Its like a reminder every year to keep trying to be a better person and get closer to God. I don't care what others think about it, I do it for myself and because its what I believe. No, Catholics don't think your going to hell if you don't belive what we do . I don't go to church every week but I wish I did . I'm not perfect. Do I care why the guy or women next to me is there or what they do in there own time? No, thats between them and God. I go because I wanna be closer to God. Yes, I believe a big key is the way you treat others, but if I can do more to make it upstairs, you better belive im gonna try. Just because you go to church doesn't mean your getting a ticket but it might help to be a better person. I think most be people just do what suits them and what is easy. I dont think religon causes problems, its the people who think they are religous. All religon is a belief to follow God a certain way. And just so we are clear I'm not saying my way is right or anyones way is wrong. I'm just giving my opinion. God knows Im far from perfect but Ill keep trying.
