    GT40 heads

As the title says looking for a pair of GT40 heads. Prefer non P heads but let me know if you have any for sale.

Also did these heads come on anything other than cobra's and v8 explorers?

They also came from the 1st gen lightning and the '95 Cobra R. After 97-1/2 the explorers and mercury mountaineers had the GT40P's. If I had to choose between the two I'd run the GT40P's personally.

    Here's some GT40's for sale:

I'd run the p's also but i've read you need special headers for them. What will work with the p heads?

I used FMS shortys, all fords headers are made to work with the Ps now. i think any long tube will get the job done. i also have a set of equal lengths that look like they might have worked but they were getting thin so i didnt bother trying them

im using mac shorties with mine but i had to pound the #3 and #7 (i think) tubes just slightly so i could get the plug boots on. also had to use wires with 90 degree boots.

your best bet is to use fms shorties, i hear nothing but good things about them with P heads.

What heads would you guys recomend. I had Trick Flows and they broke on me. I'd like to stay with irons with a 61cc chamber or bigger. Also I'll be running boost also.

My only choice for an engine that large would be a set of AFR 205/225's. Why stick with Iron, especially if your putting a heavier windsor block up front and a heavy supercharger? Aluminum can be repaired too if something goes bad.

Gt40's on that setup... YIKES! That's not a good idea.

    Head comparison

I did a comparison against a few heads. Trickflow Brodix AFR Dart and Racing Head Service on Summits site. I first threw out Trickflow and Dart because of price. The Brodix heads seam to be the smallest of the heads and $1600. So RHS is 10cc smaller on the intake 14cc smaller on exhaust and a smaller valve lift of .550 to .700. The RHS is avaliable in iron at $1080 and aluminum at $1380. The AFR's are larger but are they worth $460 more than the aluminum RHS heads.

I tried to make a link to the comparison but it didn't work.

Also any guess as to power I'll make? Considering buying a sportsman block if the foctory will break>

I don't want to spend more than $4K. Car will mostly be street driven with a few passes down the 1/4. I'd like to stay with a factory block to keep cost down. I've heard 351's are good to 700hp. I'm only looking to make 500-600hp if the stock block can take it. I plan on using Eagle forged stroker kit with 28cc dish and Jay Allen cam.

you should be fine with a stock 351 block, they are very strong (at least compared to the 302)
