A simple way to look at it. NMRA Pure Street rules put on a weight penalty for running trickflow heads but the fastest pushrod cars still run them.

I wonder why they are not running the "better" AFR heads without the weight penalty?

i think its because they like a challenge of running quick with more weight?? its easy to go fast when your lighter.i think any alum head these days are better than stock iron its all bang for buck , yes i'm on the afr band wagon. but thats before trick flow was offering cnc ported heads . now i might concider them for my next project.

Lets not turn it into an AFR vs Trick Flow thread. Bottom line that there are much better options out there than a GT 40 head on a 408W.

    Good luck with your decision.

I have brodix cylinders heads on my 306. They make good stuff. I have seen tick flow and afr heads at the track and they do not impres me that much. A buddy of mine has trick flows and a e303 camshaft and a trick flow intake. It runs down the quarter in 13.7 sec. et. Not bad though. He might supercharge it and go for 12 sec. et. He also had a dyno done to it and it makes 277 to the ground. oh and that was with slicks.

GT40's on a 408? I'd love to see that dyno graph. Drop like a rock after 4K!
