Got the same issue, then it's compounded by 5 point belts ;)

I installed this today, seems fine, but is deffinately "different". Basically 1st/3rd are now where 2nd/4th where, and 2nd/4th are the whole way back.

    Shifter in 1st gear

    Shifter in 2nd gear

    Yeah, I know it's dirty.

I also installed the new Boost gauge and changed my AEM WB02 to black face / silver bezel to match. I really like the Stewart Warner Maximum Performance gauge so far, the lighting is through the numbers versus around the bezel with an Autometer. Yeah it only idles with 10" of vacuum, price to pay for a big cam I guess.

You need a Vac storage can, check the JY for early hidden headlight cars.
Looks like the time to make a shifter!

Although the shifter looks a little strange, you need to try it. If you sit all the way back and belted in, most other styles are a bit of a reach going into third. This is actually very comfortable. We will see, I have three other type of handles here so I'll give this one a shot ;)

    Bob,
    The car looks great!

You may want to consider replacing the plastice sided rad. with a solid aluminum piece. I have seem a few of those split the sides off under boost. (The water side of the block gets pressurized when a head gasket goes) Just a thought...

Thanks Hank. Not saying it can't happen, but the failure mode on inline 2.3's is usually a little more forgiving. We either blow between cylinders (no water there) or push it out the side where it just becomes a leak. I am also running a head gasket combo that seems to let the pistons melt before it even dinks the gasket :( For sure I have thought about it and the possibilites

Just to finish this part out (mostly), a few last pics. I fabbed up a SS heat shield for the turbine. More to keep the plug wires off the turbine that anything, but it looks okay too ;)

If you External Waste Gate, no. This header is set-up so I can run one, but boost control isnt as fine at the relatively high boost we run with these things. I am using one of ATP's ultimate internal gates. I'm will to give up ultimate power if the boost is spot on for consistancy.

I've always run a manual. I am actually replacing the one that's in the pictures. My Hallman was frigged up last fall and I borrowed Frank's Gillis. The Hallman was good to 30, the Gillis will only go to 20. New one will let me go to 50 psi if needed ;) Plus it is still a ball check type, but also has an adjustable bleed. Between te adjustable rod on the WGA, adjustable bleed, and ball check I should be able to dial the boost in pretty fine.

yeah, I meant external waste gate, sorry! I didn't remember seeing one so I had to ask. EWG's make cars sound MEAN!!
