    how much boost?

so since i bought my car the boost gauge never worked,so today i was getting ready to put a aftermarket gauge in and i traced the boost line to the inside of the car and amagine they cut the line for a gauge ,they must of took it out before ibought the car.anyway i hooked up a gauge and its showing 12lbs.can i get more out of it? its only got a upper on it and im not sure what size i have to ck .this is my first cobra so im new to this.and im thinking of putting the car up for sale again after i run it this sunday weather permitting.so far the best i ran was 11.40@124.35

Could always throw a lower pulley setup on it. Probly not worth the trouble if your gonna sell it. There a PITA to install if you've never done one. Sounds like you could also put a smaller upper and and gain some boost, if your seeing 12lbs right now? I'm guessing theres a 3.10 or 2.93 pulley on there??? Could step up to a 2.76 and be roughly 14lbs. Does the car have longtubes?

Do you know if there's a chip in it or did you get a handheld tuner when you bought it? If the person took the aftermarket boost gauge out, he/she might've taken the chip/tuner before they traded it in, too. You should check into this before you think about going to the track again... or even full throttle.

I'm not trying to be a douchebag about this, I looked at your old 'for sale' thread and you don't mention a chip/tuner there, either.

    Better check that out, ASAP.

I'd imagine it does have a tune, if not I wouldn't think the car would be running good at this point. But its always better to know what software and who the car is tuned by when selling (can't believe you didn't want to know or get your own tune yourself earlier). It'll be one of the first things people will ask. I'd suggest trying to get that fixed before adding it on the market.

Regardless if it's tuned or not, making changes to these cars, IE Intake, exhaust, etc etc.. almost every mod requires @ minimum, having your current tune checked, further more possibly being retuned. I know they seem like simple mods but these modular boosted motors aren't like the old 5.0 days. It's been proven time after time, changing the intake almost always requires a re-tune. Different intakes cause different air-paths, and believe it or not, they can GREATLY throw the tune off. I'm by no means raining down on you or trying to cause trouble, I'm just trying to be helpful. I been through nearly every damn intake, exhaust setup, pullies, etc etc that can done to these cars, the simplest things will throw the tune out of wack.

If you end up keeping this car, regardless how good it runs, I'd definitly go get it tuned correctly for your mods. A $300-$500 properly tuned setup will save alot of grief later down the road.
