Carb spacer

How bad does adding a carb spacer affect air/fuel. More so, if I added a spacer to a car should it be retuned? Or is it not affecting the air/fuel enough to warrant a rejet/retune? I was giving thought to purchasing a tapered 4 hole for my setup. Have read nothing but good things about this style of spacer. The overall consensus being that it creates more airflow through the carb, adding to atomization of fuel, which I believe I need. Although I may have answered my own question, still looking for feedback.

the tapered spacers affect the fuel signal from the carb alot, depending on the spacer. Keep in mind the hood clearance as well.

Hood clearance is the main reason I haven't bought one yet. Thats why I was hoping I could get away without a retune. Got one for sale? Preferably phelonic?

i have a phelonic 4 hole(they increase slow air flow velocity), but thats not what you want on a big rpm screamer!! you want either a open to increase plenum volume (which raises power band) or a tapered which helps to staighten airflow and increase fuel signal from the carb with high air flow velocity..

I've read that the 4 hole tapered spacer gives the best of both, power across the whole band. The larger I move in powervalves I was concerned with losing too much lowend. Figuring the above spacer would solve both. Worried that an open spacer would only enhance the lacking of a lowend. Although i'm only coughing up what i've read and no real world experience with these.

I was concerned with losing too much lowend.

C'mon B-Dubs, 4.10's and 4 inches of stroke, you can stand a trade off anyday with those attributes.

We have the same hood. A 6-71 huffer would fit with no clearance issues!!!! HAHAHAHAHHA
