    Power locks problem

Ever since I bought my 00' GT the power locks never worked and now its finally got on my nerve to find the problem.

When i hit the power lock switch i hear a click under the driver dash near the fuse box and sounds like something is moving in the doors but the locks wont lock or unlock. The indicators move slightly but thats it.

    Any clues?

It could be a lock actuator if the nosie is coming from the door> but under the dash i dont know> i actually just replaced the actuator in my 03 today the part was 45 dollars and it took 20 minutes to fix

Where is the acuator? The noise under the dash just sounds like a relay clicking so i thikn its still working.

The actuators sound like that could be it. Hard to change?

I think that is the best clue right there. As has been said, the actuators on Fords are known to be marginal. If they are moving even slightly, the power is getting to the actuator, but they are most likely gummed up. Typically need replaced but I have heard of them being loosened up.

Pull the door panel and they are in the corner of the door. Need small hands to get in there :D

Ok, Im gonna look at the actuators when i get a chance. Ive got lil fat hands. Hope they fit.

Guess both of them are screwed up so ill prob have to buy two.

How do I get the door panel off?

I had a similar problem with my LT1... it was indeed the actuator.. its a miserable problem to have and my suggestion would be to just replace it if you can do it for a reasonable cost... i could get mine working for a few months, and then it'd quit.. i'd tear the door apart, and fix it... then a few months later, i'd have to do it all over again... it was really annoying!

    Good luck!
