Thread: McCrackin Ford Closing???

  1. #21
I wouldn't put it past them not to tell their employees till the put the closed sign on the door. I knew about the whole metro market thing with Ford and it's dealers. Think about it, all it is around here is such and such Ford against such and such Ford. Not Such and such agains say Baierl Chevrolet, etc. Makes sense to me to clear out the herd a little bit.

I Work At Davies Ford In Charleroi And The Car Buisness Is Bad Right Now. We Are Down In Sales, parts, And Service. There Have Been Many Lay Offs Here. It's True About Ford Shutting Down Dealers. They Want More Mega Dealers Than The Little Dealers.

My source can't comment on McCrackin closing (they chuckled), but WalMart is reported to be eyeing the Chi-Chi's property and the real estate BEHIND McCrackin which McCrackin appears to have emptied a few months ago. (Just what they need right there, a WalMart, as if McKnightmare isn't nightmarish enough already.)

Tangent: With "auto group" dealers becoming so common, it comes as no surprise if the independents are struggling to survive.

I got an undisclosed confirmation that they're done. It would make sense that Walmart would go in there as they already own the old Sam's Club Property, which I noticed no longer has a for sale sign on it. Buy McCrackin, Chi Chi's, and that old run down matress place and boom, instant super wally world.

Drove past McCrackin tonight and it looked like a ghost town there. I heard that tonight was their last night open.

Although I hate dealerships, its a shame. There will be alot of good paying jobs lost and then replaced with a bunch of minimum wage Walmart jobs.

You gotta feel bad for all the employee's they have strung along all this time. Only to be cut loose with no severance. Ford corporate people get a buy out to go away.No such luck for dealer personal, just shown the door. It will be tough for them to find jobs at other Ford dealers, they are all slow and having tough times.

well Ford is doing a good thing because only the greedy dealers would sell back to make a quick buck. I see it as if you are a really good dealer you would stay open because you would have customers and be selling cars. hopefully this nationwide trend will weed out the bad

It may create a monopoly type of market though for those that do remain in business as there will be less competition to keep prices and "market adjustments" down.

What actually happened is that 4 other local dealers bought them out and Wally Mart is paying Timmy mega bux for the land.
